It's time to put an end to the story. A real one, not just for a tick and not to cut the money on a name that has deservedly gained popularity. A point that not only answers many questions, but also gives grounds for reflection. After all, everyone loves a movie that makes you think a little bit, right? The third part premiered just a few months after the second one, which makes sense, because they have different actors. The makers took a risk by shooting both parts in parallel. And they won.

Inspector Lau, darling, what happened to you? What happened to the confidence and good judgment that guided your every move? Where had your peace and sleep gone, replaced by red eyes and sunken cheeks? When did you lose control of the situation, and perhaps of your own mind? Why did you become afraid of your own shadow and hunt for ghosts? No, you're not the same Inspector Lau I admired a while ago.

In part 3, the writers did a clever trick: they crammed the movie with constant flashbacks, which, first of all, allowed you to delve into the world of the main characters, understand their actions and motives even better and get a lot of answers. Secondly, it brought back all the stars of the first part: Leung, Wong and Tsang, who, for all other reasons, should not be here. A very good move, because in many ways it was thanks to these people the first part, and later the entire franchise became a cult. Here is just a feeling that Tony Leung and Andy Lau were swapped places. Now Andy plays an unhappy, exhausted and completely lost himself, while Tony can increasingly be seen happy and cheerful. To their credit, the two actors handled these metamorphoses with ease and ease. In addition to the stars of the first part, we would like to highlight the new characters: Leon Laya and his character as the arrogant and cocky Inspector Jung and Chen Daoming as the enigmatic Shen. Both characters were able to bring something new, something of their own.

The plot of the third part is the most challenging for the viewer. While 'Double Castling' 1 and 2 are just stories set out in a narrative manner, Part 3 resembles a jigsaw puzzle, which is not easy to make sense of. Here you need care and knowledge of the first part, although even then the success is not guaranteed. With some stretch, Part 3 can even be seen as a psychological thriller, that's how the crime drama has grown in two years. Each part is different from the other two, each part is an independent movie, not a clone of the previous part, with its own manner of narration and twist, each part is definitely a masterpiece that has already gone down in history and into eternity.
