Review 4K Movie

Magnificent and inimitable Hollywood magician Tim Burton began to learn the world of cinema through the prism of animation, working at the Disney studio on a number of notable animated projects. The extraordinary creative vision of the young author could not go unnoticed. Burton was not going to adjust to the traditional canons of the studio, trying to show his specific grotesque style in every project where he was sent. Having shown himself as a non-standard visionary, able to revitalize any fantasy, Burton felt that he was no longer interested in being in the shadows, and therefore he went to conquer the world of big movies, attaching to him the experience of working in animated films. Having achieved great success with the phenomenally crazy "Bittlejuss", the director established himself in the big leagues of Hollywood thanks to the high quality screen adaptation of comic books about Batman, immediately after the release in theaters turned into an object of universal adoration. Burton's commitment to gothic motifs, charming darkness and bright, charismatic images became an integral part of the master's style, for which he was loved not only by the audience, but also by critics. Each new project Burton caused incredible excitement. Unconventional thinking became fashionable, viewers ceased to be afraid to be different, demonstrating their own individuality. The power of cinema, multiplied by the imagination of Tim Burton, contributed to the development of creative experiments, in which there were no longer forbidden motives. And the director himself did his best to make another of his original ideas find life on the big screen. Not having time to personally shoot "The Nightmare Before Christmas", Burton entrusted the responsible process to his fellow animator Henry Selick, long deserving to become the head of the creation of a full-fledged movie. Burton's traditionally crazy but eerily appealing idea eventually turned into one of the best animated films ever made. Under Selick's direction and Burton's creative eye, The Nightmare Before Christmas is a juicy, otherworldly extravaganza filled with plenty of zany ideas, a rousing soundtrack, and a simple but effective moral. Discussing life and death, the sacraments of the main Christian celebrations and the real meaning of their realization, the creators have told us a fascinating parable, from which neither adults nor children can tear themselves away. Tim Burton and Henry Selick plunged us into a world of frightening illusions, from which you do not want to get out!

So, the plot of the cartoon takes us to the glorious city of Halloween, where there are a variety of monsters, which are in the business of scaring people on the eve of All Saints' Day. With no other entertainment, swamp monsters, forest werewolves, vampires, nightmare clowns and other terrifying residents of the town devote themselves to inventing new ways to scare, but none of them can compare to the inimitable Jack Skellington (original voice by composer Danny Elfman), the most famous Halloween character, who can scare even the most stubborn, fearless people with a snap of his bony fingers. Year after year Skellington became the winner in the most different categories of Halloween celebrations and he gradually became very sad. Favorite business ceased to bring joy, honestly deserved awards were no longer where to fold, and the constant attention of fans frankly bored the pampering of fear, nightmare and horror Skellington. But one day, bypassing an outlandish glade with magic gates to other fairy-tale worlds, Jack decides to look into the city of Christmas to find out what the locals do and what are the peculiarities of celebrating the brightest day of the year. Finding himself in the fiefdom of Santa Claus himself, Jack suddenly gets a special interest in all those Christmas trees, gingerbread men and presents, which just need to be spread overnight to all the houses of the planet, where obedient children live. But since the city is run by a good-natured old man in a red suit, Jack will have to go for tricks and replace him in the most brazen way, not tolerating objections. Having secured the crooks of the Boogeyman himself, the invariable champion of Halloween is preparing to conquer Christmas, but in any, even the most precisely calibrated plan of action, sometimes creeps unpredictable value.

The very name of the tape, "The Nightmare Before Christmas", sets the viewer on some mysterious mood, because previously in the pictures of holiday themes almost never had mystical darkness, and any villains, seeping into the story in this magical season, caused only indulgent smiles, but not blood-cold delight in its creepiness. Tim Burton and Henry Selick did not want to make another diligent, predictable and trivial cartoon, because they were primarily interested in the mystery that enveloped Halloween and Christmas from the old days, when these holidays were not so large and predictable. In "The Nightmare Before Christmas" the creators bring to the surface ancient myths, flirt with frightening tales, but at the same time are not in a hurry to openly frighten their audience. Still, this cartoon should not scare us away from watching. On the contrary, it captivates us, gives us chills and amazes us with marvelous puppet beauties that can give a head start to any graphic entertainment. Last but not least, "The Nightmare Before Christmas" is interesting because of the form in which its main ideas are presented. Burton and Selick have taken extremely simple truths and played them up in such a way that the audience feels an unprecedented dramatic depth, pushing an exceptionally correct moral into the creation. The image of Jack Skellington shows us that even in the abode of eternal fears and anxieties there is always room for joy and positivity. The main thing is only to correctly understand all the values and draw the appropriate conclusions for themselves. Thus, "The Nightmare Before Christmas" becomes for all of us a lesson that we should not miss, because it speaks about the main thing and does it in such a memorable form that you will probably never forget about the adventures of Jack Skellington and will be able to look at both Christmas and Halloween with fresh eyes.

But in addition to the attention to Tim Burton and Henry Selick, we must also give a bow of gratitude to maestro Danny Elfman, who managed to frame "The Nightmare Before Christmas" with magnificent melodies, whose sound is memorable literally from the first note. It was not for nothing that the creators decided to saturate the cartoon with a serious and lengthy soundtrack, which was obliged to present the audience with a lot of melodies that directly advance the plot, rather than serve only as a background. And it's impossible to imagine anyone else in Elfman's place, as he had already collaborated with Burtonm many times and thoroughly knew how to adjust to his creative style. The maestro's compositions display a subtle irony, a genuine childlike delight at the magic he has seen, and an anxiety that makes you feel the eccentric danger that accompanies the narrative throughout most of the timeline. It is noteworthy that Danny Elfman himself voiced several images of the cartoon at once, showing us his undoubted talent, extending much further than the framework of musical art.

In the end, I want to say that "The Nightmare Before Christmas" is undoubtedly one of the best creations of Tim Burton, which a priori is unable to cause other experiences than sincere delight. The story of Jack Skellington strikes you with its poignancy, and therefore you should not deny yourself the pleasure of appreciating this work on its own merits.
