Story Movie

A group of divers undertake a very risky expedition into the largest cave system on Earth - incredibly beautiful and almost inaccessible. An unexpected tropical storm forces them to descend deep into the caves. The only salvation for the explorers is to find an unknown second exit to the sea, overcoming the fierce elements of raging waters, treacherous dungeon traps and deadly terror.

Review 4K Movie

In 1988, Andrew White and 21 others were making their final explorations of one of Australia's longest underwater cave systems in the Nullarbor Plain. On the final day of the expedition, a cyclone of unprecedented strength from the sea produced a flood that flooded the cave exit and left 15 people trapped. The next two days were the most stressful and longest of their lives. At the risk of being trapped by the unstable rock, they moved meter by meter to find a new exit to the surface. Fortunately for them - everything ended well, and none of the speleologist-divers stayed in those caves forever. 23 years later, thanks to White's acquaintance with James Cameron, a feature film adaptation of the above-mentioned events was released. In favor of not the largest budget and the requirements of cinematography, the place of action was moved to South America, and the number of key participants in the events reduced to 6 people. The 3D format was also used.

- If there is wit and skill, the stick as a rifle.

Before going to watch the movie “Sanctum”, you need to learn a few things. First, despite the involvement of Cameron as a producer, the movie was not made by him. That's why in some places (mostly in the prelude to the main action) the picture makes the most dull impression. Here you have a bunch of lines, overloaded with specific terms, dubious humor and not the most brilliant acting. But do not let yourself be deceived - the potential of the tape, contrary to the lack of proper experience in many of its creators, lies much deeper than a variation on the theme of how to survive at any cost. Secondly, despite the presence of technology that gave the world one of the highest-grossing films in the history of cinematography, the picture is far from a typical 3D attraction. That is, of course, “volumetricity” in the movie is present and in some places quite good, and the movie entertains the viewer in a good manner, but all this is a secondary matter here.

- They say that you were almost killed in Mexico.
- Malaysia. I got syphilis in Mexico.

In spite of the fact that the clips to the picture were laden with banal lines under the strain, pathos is the last thing you want to reproach the movie with. Plus separately I would like to emphasize the fact that the characters act in the picture as adequately as possible and in accordance with the situation. If it is panic - it is justified, and if it is someone's death - you are unlikely to hear especially long monologues.

Here we come to the main thing, namely the realization that the main core of the film and what it was created for, are its characters, but not specific characters of the picture, but those whose images they represent. Many of us spend our entire conscious lives in the city and never encounter the true nature of our planet. Few people care that somewhere out there, on the periphery there are “workers of the invisible front” who move science forward, perform valiant deeds and die because of minor mistakes. This picture is dedicated to them - real heroes about whom nobody knows anything.
