Thirty years after the death of Darth Vader and the Emperor, the galaxy is still in danger. Public Education The First Order, led by the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke and his right hand, Kylo Ren, is following in the footsteps of the Empire, trying to seize all power. The new part of the famous saga caused a lot of fears, but many fans still pinned certain hopes on The Awakening of Power. In fact, the new part cannot be failed, but you cannot put it on the same level as the previous parts. The biggest plus and minus of the film is that this part is true to the traditions of the old trilogy. On the one hand, there is that spirit of adventure and adventurism, for which the majority also fell in love with the first parts (episodes IV-VI), but at the same time the picture does not show us practically nothing new. Many say that “Awakening of power” is a solid remake of “New Hope” and, unfortunately, there are grounds for such words: the galaxy, apparently, is not at all calm, the New Order has successfully replaced the Empire, the threat of rebellion is still ominous Sith, and adventures begin with a desert planet (though now Jakku instead of Tatuin, who got his teeth on edge). Mentioning about the Starkiller base (the third "Death Star") and the new insidious Emperor is even somehow embarrassing.

Contrary to the foregoing, the picture still looks different: yes, the plots of the 4th and 5th episodes were carefully squeezed into this film, but this was done distinctively. A sense of deja vu arises, but what is happening in the episode is set so high-quality that at first I don’t even want to blame it. Adventure, power, the Jedi (who are again on the verge of extinction) - all this still fascinates. Only later, when you begin to rethink what is happening, it becomes insanely sorry that in fact we were not shown anything new. Although many do not like the prequel trilogy (although I like it a little more than the original), to argue that political affairs served as an excellent decoration of the semantic component is, at least, stupid. All these political intrigues, conflicts, which largely determine the fate of the galaxy and the decisions that could change it beyond recognition - this is definitely not enough here.

Regarding the characters, everything is rather ambiguous: the "old guard", for the most part, puts pressure on nostalgia, and the "newcomers", although they try to prove themselves, are poorly registered in their images. The brave Ray, on whose shoulders a heavy burden was placed, ex-stormtrooper Fin, who decided to turn off his path and the hysterical Sith Kylo Ren, who, although he possesses considerable strength, but the imbalance and posturing often hinder him no less than the protagonists. We can say with confidence that in this part we were shown the most inexpressive Jedi hero and Sith villain. True, there is hope that in the sequels these characters will be revealed better, because the potential is felt in them.

Some plot twists cause questions: did the rebel victory really affect the balance of power of the Imperials so weakly? Why does a trained Sith not immediately cope with a simple person holding a lightsaber? And, in the end, why does one who only feels strength give a worthy rebuff to someone who, apparently, has been training for more than one year? And where could the new Sith Lord come from? Again, there is hope that in the sequel to these questions we will be answered.

In general, they showed us a very good continuation, which worthily follows the traditions of the original. The problem is that in addition to following the traditions of the film, there is nothing more to boast of. This time, this approach worked, but for the next parts this will obviously not be enough.
