Joe Huff is a police officer who goes undercover in a biker gang terrorizing a small town in Mississippi, subjugating not only ordinary residents and underground businessmen but also local authorities, including law enforcement officials. Joe’s appearance and demeanor allow him to pass himself off as one of the bikers and, under the name Joe Stone, begin planning an operation to take down the entire motorcycling gang—armed to the teeth and led by the ruthless Chains.

‘Stone Cold’ is the kind of action movie from the '80s and '90s that didn't require a coherent script or logical character behavior. The main character had to be a big guy in a leather jacket and black sunglasses, which is hardly surprising after the 1984 release of ‘The Terminator.’ The actor in the lead role wasn’t required to have any particular talent or acting skills either. The main thing was that he be fit and confident. Because, like Johnny Utah from *Point Break*, he’ll have to gain the trust of a motorcycle gang led by the very colorful Chains, played by Lance Henriksen. And from there, it’s simple—lots of shooting, fighting, and motorcycle riding, without much meaning, but quite spectacular.

It’s actually strange that the movie flopped at the box office. The main character, while not Schwarzenegger, still has a striking appearance, handles the bikers pretty well, and even tries to show some emotion. Lance Henriksen as Chains was simply surprising—he’s never looked like that anywhere else. The rest of the cast is simpler: there’s a pretty dark-haired biker girl and Chains’s assistant, played by William Forsythe, who meets a rather gruesome end here.

Of course, there’s no drama here—it’s 100 percent a straightforward action flick with cheesy character lines and some pretty decent action. Especially since in the early ’90s, the naive coolness of the main characters was kind of in vogue, and it’s hard to see why audiences wouldn’t have liked the movie. ‘Stone Cold’ still holds up pretty well even today; the main thing is that the movie isn’t boring, and you don’t have to take everything that happens too seriously. Just enjoy the spectacle, even if it’s not on a modern scale. Cool motorcycles, plenty of action, imposing bikers, and unusual main characters—that’s what’s worth watching here.
