The Empire has fallen, but its military leaders still control parts of the galaxy. The fledgling New Republic is trying to defend the ideals for which the rebels fought, and has enlisted Mandalorian Din Jarin, a renowned bounty hunter, and his young apprentice Grogu for the mission.

The TV series, which follows the adventures of a bounty hunter and his adorable apprentice from the “Star Wars” universe, has been adapted into a feature-length film. Personally, I’m not familiar with the series. However, judging by what’s online, opinions are divided on whether it’s necessary to watch the series before seeing the feature film, or whether the filmmakers did everything they could to ensure viewers wouldn’t have to rewatch a bunch of episodes.

The plot follows a badass bounty hunter named Din Djarin, who takes on challenging missions alongside his apprentice, Grogu. Essentially, “The Empire Has Fallen,” and the New Republic is hunting down all manner of military commanders in hiding who continue to serve the Empire, while the Mandalorian and Grogu track them down and bring them to justice. In this particular adventure, the search for one of these mysterious commanders takes them all the way to the planet Hutta.

In terms of visuals and audio, this film is of a very decent standard. Everything looks great—energetic and colorful. There are awesome action scenes, the cuteness of Grogu, funny characters, a dash of humor, vibrant colors, and that classic “Star Wars” vibe. However, it’s worth acknowledging that the plot doesn’t feel as epic as we’re used to seeing in films from the “Star Wars” universe. It seems as though this small quest (the mission for the main characters) isn’t significant enough to warrant a full-length feature in the “Star Wars” series. So, after watching it, I personally was left with a strange feeling that what was happening on screen wasn’t really that important.

And yes, the film is missing one crucial element of everything related to “Star Wars,” and it’s very noticeable—because without these elements, “Star Wars” just doesn’t feel the same at all.
