Perseus—the mortal son of Zeus—fights monsters in an attempt to save his beloved Andromeda from a cruel curse. Fortunately, Perseus has his own magical helpers: a beautiful winged horse and an amazingly intelligent owl. But even these companions aren’t always able to help the hero in his battle against powerful enemies.

I remember watching this movie when I was just a kid. I absolutely loved it back then. And really, the very subject of myths and legends (especially Greek ones) is capable of captivating just about anyone. The people of that era had such a stunning imagination that even today, all these stories haven’t lost their significance or appeal.

So, in this film, we encounter a significant number of the most famous and beloved characters from Greek mythology (though, to be honest, I suspect that some of them aren’t actually connected at all—but that’s just a digression). The mythical creatures are stunning for their time. Of course, to someone living in the 21st century, all of this seems rather primitive and underwhelming, but back then it was a real breakthrough in cinema. And anyway, it’s good to take a break sometimes, forget what century we’re living in, and immerse ourselves in the wild ’80s for at least a couple of hours.

I think this movie is a good watch for any film lover, regardless of era or background. And aside from a couple of scenes, the younger generation might find it interesting, too.
