Few returned from the Crusade. Robin of Locksley had to enlist the help of a Muslim prisoner to avoid death in infidel captivity: the religious enemies were united by common misfortune. But the greatest threats await the hero from fellow believers: an impostor has seized the English throne!

The story tells us about Robin of Locksley, who, after escaping from captivity, returns to his native lands. But to his surprise he discovers that the throne has been seized by an impostor. Now he has to find like-minded people and join the fight, with the invaders of his home.

From the first minutes you can feel the spirit of adventure, which is now to see a rarity. Naturalism is not in favor nowadays, it is easier to shoot everything on a green background. Lively nature and realistic sets create a sense of presence, which gives the film a big plus.

The cast is excellent, impeccably conveying the emotional background of the characters. Kevin Costner, Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Morgan Freeman, Christian Slater, Michael Wincott, each in their own right. I was happy to see Sean Connery in a cameo, playing the prince of Sherwood Forest back in 1976, in 'Robin and Marian'. I would like to mention the superb role of Alan Rickman (Sheriff of Nottingham), who deliberately overplaying, removes the heat of passion and brings the atmosphere of a bloody struggle, in the direction of goofiness and hilarity. Rickman's close-ups showing his rage and fury only bring a smile.In the end, with such an antagonist, the story about honor and helping the oppressed, is reduced to a fight in a sandbox, for a girl's attention, and it's not bad. A local conflict that one watches with great interest.

An important virtue of the film, as well, is the final soundtrack by Bryan Adams - Everything I Do (I Do It For You). Proving that all the events in the film were led, precisely to a story about love.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" is a worthy picture, giving the warmth of the past, after viewing which, you will be satisfied even in our time. And the viewer from the 90's will be stupefied by the spirit of nostalgia.
