In the second Mario cartoon, the main plot revolves around Peach’s mysterious past. The main villain is Bowser Jr., who has decided to outdo his father in villainy and enslave the entire universe.

As expected, the cartoon is packed with references to the Nintendo universe, even more so than in the original film. It’s funny that I guessed who would appear in the post-credits scene of the first movie (it was Yoshi), but here, on the contrary, I was sure they’d show Kirby or a star of equal stature, yet they showed, let’s say, not the coolest character.

A fantastic cartoon! By the way, it managed to recoup its production budget in its very first weekend of release, but many point out flaws in the storytelling, the confusing chaos of the events, and the overall mediocrity typical of sequels. I categorically cannot agree with that, but yes, to be fair, it’s hard for me to remain objective in this analysis of the cartoon. For decades, we gamers and Nintendo fans have been waiting for these adaptations, and the big question is, ‘Why did they drag their feet on this? ’ Now they’re here, and I’ll be rewatching the original movie, the sequel, and the third installment—which, by the way, is just around the corner—with great pleasure.
