In my opinion, this is Tinto Brass's second best movie after 'Caligula'.

Of course, I haven't seen all of his earlier works, but I can say unequivocally that after 'Caligula', a project that, although odious and shocking, is a serious and large-scale production of real historical events, Brass actually switched to melodramas and comedies in which sex is the main theme, not an accompanying one, revealing only one of the facets of the character.

And so, among all of this string of Brass films from the early 80s through the early 2000s, 'Breaking Prohibitions' is the best. Yes, its plot is very simple and banal, but to be frank, it is always simple and banal with Brass, even in those works where he tries to avoid simplicity. In 'Breaking Prohibitions', as always with Brass, there is a lot of farce, buffoonery.

But...

But the eroticism and the protagonist do the trick. The sex scenes are much more exciting and realistic, and all thanks to Ukrainian Julia Mayarchuk. Brass hit the bull's-eye by rejecting young and not so young Italian women and filmed 'Breaking Prohibitions' in a slightly different style, in slightly different colors. Julia herself, unlike her predecessors, has a great model appearance. She is beautiful, slender, there are no sagging sides, but at the same time and hanger she is not called in any way. She is really very sexy in this movie and portrays passion beautifully. She portrays an orgasm quite originally, a la Maria Sharapova while playing tennis.

All in all, I won't call it a masterpiece, of course, but almost exemplary erotica - perhaps.
