Elwood P. Dowd, a man who revels in his own eloquence, is kind enough that his kindness overwhelms the lives of everyone around him. One evening, Elwood comes home and sees a big, two-foot-tall rabbit named Harvey propping up a lamppost. Invisible to everyone else, Harvey becomes his friend and follows him everywhere, greatly disturbing Elwood's family. Elwood P. Wood is a good-natured, kind, and polite man. From the very first scenes, we get the impression that he is a little strange. This is because he is the only one who can see a giant rabbit. But later on, we see that Elwood is the most normal person of all those around him. It is no coincidence that it was his sister who was sent to the mental hospital, not him. Elwood's worldview is different from the norm, but that doesn't make him worse, only better.

The hero is always very friendly, polite, and attentive, which is why everyone likes him without exception. Elwood is free from all the trivialities of life; he is above that. And all because of his friend Harvey the rabbit, in whom he found both support and understanding. Harvey is, as it were, Elwood's connection to the outside world. Therefore, Elwood can confidently be called a happy person, because he has something that others do not.

In general, the film itself is a bit like a fairy tale. After all, Harvey is a mythological character. We don't see him, we have to feel him ourselves. And whether to believe in him or not is up to each individual.

The words of the driver, played by actor Wallace Ford, are very important for understanding the essence of the film. His speech opens the eyes of Elwood's sister, and she realizes that she doesn't want to see her brother differently.

The film is definitely worth watching. There is much to take away from it and reflect upon. It is a film about the true things that we sometimes forget.
