Translator Regina Lampert is vacationing at a ski resort in the French Alps, where she meets an attractive stranger named Peter Joshua. Regina plans to divorce her husband, Charles, but upon returning to Paris, she receives terrible news: her husband has sold all their property and was killed under mysterious circumstances. At her husband’s funeral, she meets three strangers who are investigating whether Charles is truly dead. Regina soon learns that during World War II, her husband embezzled a shipment of gold intended for the French Resistance, and the three men are his former colleagues who are still trying to get their hands on the fortune.

Great movies do exist, and proof of that is any film in which Audrey Hepburn is delightful. I haven’t seen a movie like this in a long time—it has stunning moments, emotion, humor, and dialogue—it’s all very good, but then there are the main characters: Audrey and Cary.

Audrey Hepburn as Reggie is absolutely wonderful, as always—need I say more? I don’t know much about men, but Carey Grant is magnificent in my opinion. The moment when Grant takes a shower in his suit and cracks Reggie up in the process is simply brilliant—need I say more?

Overall, this is a must-see movie.

Paris. Oh, Paris is so beautiful there. Yes, it’s precisely in this film that Paris of that era is portrayed in a very interesting way.

There’s a lot more to say about this film, but it makes much more sense to just watch it. There are hundreds of opinions about this film, but it’s worth enjoying them all.
