About ten years ago, the first installment of what has since become a legendary franchise somehow slipped right past us. Sure, we’d heard something about Keanu Reeves’s new role, about Theon Greyjoy, and about the dog, but we clearly weren’t in any hurry to watch it. We didn’t go to the movies, and we didn’t stream it online either. Then came February 2017 (it feels like so long ago!), and since we had the chance to go to premieres every week back then, the sequel caught our attention. Oh yeah, seeing it in the theater was an unforgettable experience! We even went back to see it again afterward—we absolutely loved what we saw.

Naturally, after that, we watched the first movie there, and then we were eagerly awaiting the third installment. And just when it seemed clear that they couldn’t jump any higher, run any farther, or make anything cooler, this creative team managed to blow the world away with their fourth installment in 2023. We went to different movie theaters three times just to mindlessly and honestly enjoy each viewing. The fourth time didn’t work out—too bad—when we got together. While the world is holding its breath in anticipation of the officially announced fifth installment, we decided to treat ourselves to a documentary.

No surprises here—it’s the standard compilation of talking heads and behind-the-scenes footage. It immediately brought back memories of the DVD era, when we used to buy two-disc special editions where the second disc was dedicated to all sorts of interesting extras. While watching *The World of John Wick*, it actually felt cozy, warm, and safe in a world flooded with an overwhelming amount of information. You can learn a lot of interesting things from this compilation if you’re not an active YouTube viewer.

It turns out Keanu Reeves swears loudly when a take doesn’t go well. Just imagine—he really got exhausted both before and during filming, given all the physical strain his aging body had to endure. Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, despite their friendly relationship, clashed fiercely and nervously while co-directing their first film. And the stories about how they couldn’t raise the necessary budget for that very first, intense *John Wick* are so terrifyingly touching that you suddenly find yourself wondering...

After all, the world might never have gotten this super-popular franchise of the century if it weren’t for… Eva Longoria! Who would’ve thought, huh, tough guys?! We think it turned out to be anything but a boring two-hour story for true fans and for simple connoisseurs of masterful, spectacular cinema of the era. You don’t have to watch it, but it’s enlightening. Yeah, you can make as many snarky jokes as you want about how, no matter how much pain John Wick feels, he still manages to survive—but, damn it, he’s really in pain in a lot of scenes. That’s why he’s John Wick!
