However, having fallen in love at first sight with the monarch, she completely forgot about her original goals and having given herself over to her feelings, she will pay not only for the collapse of all her dreams, but also for her life....

This movie is exactly what we - fans of costumed, pompous and historical movies, have been waiting for a long time. What I missed in "Pride and Prejudice" or "Marie Antoinette", I got in full in "Jeanne Dubarry". Unfortunately, I missed it at the movies and I am very sorry. However, by creating the appropriate atmosphere at home and turning on the movie on TV, I was able to enjoy the sensual atmosphere of true love passions. Every time I watch such movies, I wait for the moment when the protagonists finally throw themselves into each other's arms without looking back. And that's exactly what happens in "Jeanne".

The ending is not so important in this story: we know that the king will die, and Jeanne will go to the scaffold after Marie Antoinette - it is not a secret for anyone who is fond of French history. It is the very moment of development of the dizzying relationship between the king and the former courtesan that is important here. And who today can better than Johnny Depp, show reliably tired of intrigue middle-aged man? No one. That's why he looks very authentic here and his relationship with the young beauty is filled with real vitality. All those who appear in the frame, serve only to twist the spring, which is sure to shoot in the final part. Incredibly tender feelings that the heroes have for each other, look on the screen as revelations that Depp and Mavenne bring to the characters of their characters from their personal lives.

In the film, the balance is competently maintained, when the panoramas of palace intrigue skillfully intertwined with unusual "intimate" scenes of behind-the-scenes royal life. Maiwenn has succeeded not at all vulgar, but on the contrary - beautifully and fascinatingly show the viewer the very, real and human side of a monarch of this level. I have not seen such a revelation in a historical movie for a long time. And most importantly, nothing is tainted by modern trends, but everything is shown in accordance with the rules of the time. That's why the movie is watched not only with pleasure from what is happening on the screen, but also with full confidence that everything was exactly as it was.

The graceful and distinctive Maiwenn paired with Depp's unique acting gift gives us an incredible expirience that pushes the boundaries of the genre and proves that creating a real historical love cocktail is not just about dressing a woman up nicely and putting a wig on a man. You have to be in love with the era and have an irrepressible desire to recreate the atmosphere not only in the public eye, but also in the private, behind-the-scenes life. Maiwenn and Depp succeeded in doing so with the gloss and taste that is characteristic of French cinema.
