The movie, based on real facts, tells the life story of a veteran named Ron Kovik. As a naive schoolboy, he enlists as a volunteer in the army and, having gone through the hell of the Vietnam War, returns home a paralyzed cripple. This courageous man dedicates his life to fighting the worst enemy of mankind - war.

Roni Kovik was a very determined person from his early years. As a child, like all boys, he played war games and had a whole forest to play in. At school he practiced wrestling and competed in the school championship. That's where he first gave up and was defeated. After growing up a bit, he voluntarily decides to join the Marines, knowing what was coming, the Vietnam War.

Patriotism and faith in his country has always been in his soul. He wanted to be a protector for one and all. Many friends disagreed with his choice, but he, went to that war anyway.

Further it would be simply incorrect from my side to recount the whole movie. The main thing is that there is a huge meaning, will to life, conscience and human enlightenment in it.

Realization that any of us could be in his place and that the government, be it American or ours, can unleash a bloody war for no one knows what, and a man who truly believes in his country will have to suffer all his life.

And the last thing I want to say. I am not afraid to say that for me personally this was the best role of Tom Cruise.

I truly enjoyed and understood from the movie.
