The sun shines brightly in the sky. There are many people around. These people aren’t here by choice; they’re serving their sentences, working in the mines. It’s not known for certain whether they actually committed these crimes or not. One of them is Harry Hamilton, who was framed by someone and sent to prison. But now the day has come when he can walk free and find the real culprit. He will see how the world has changed during the years he spent working, drenched in sweat, with his last ounce of strength, through pain and suffering. In terms of genre, the film can be classified as a spaghetti western detective story. But beyond that, the film also features a number of references to various other genres. For example, some scenes have a surrealist feel, and at times the film’s genre shifts from detective to thriller, and from action to drama. But regardless of genre, the film is a success. Klaus Kinski delivers a quality performance. The music is simply mesmerizing. And some plot twists might even surprise seasoned mystery fans. It’s clear that a tremendous amount of work went into the film. The sets and costumes are beautiful, and the atmosphere of frightening uncertainty is simply indescribable.
