In the latest installment of the SAW franchise, titled "Saw X," the notorious John Kramer, portrayed by Tobin Bell, makes a chilling return. This film delves into an untold chapter of Jigsaw's sinister legacy, unfolding between the events of SAW I and II. Faced with a terminal illness, John embarks on a perilous journey to Mexico, seeking a risky experimental medical procedure in a desperate bid for a cure. However, he soon discovers that the entire operation is an elaborate scam preying on the most vulnerable. Motivated by a newfound purpose, John resolutely resumes his work, cleverly turning the tables on the deceitful individuals through a series of ingenious and terrifying traps, showcasing his signature visceral approach.

And here it is, unexpectedly, like a ray of light in the dark realm of the fan base - the appearance of the tenth installment of Saw. Not a simple one, but with John Kramer at the helm. No surrealistic bicycles from the producers, but only good old fashioned violence from Uncle John. Who this time became quite ill, and therefore decided to promptly correct his health in a private clinic. Which is anecdotal in itself, but what can we do? Healing medicine in the valley of the Incas did not have positive results, and Mr. Kramer himself was thrown through the reproductive organ. And if the first fact, namely the dubiousness of the positive result in relation to his own tumor Constructor was ready to bear, then to be deceived for John is akin to a challenge, and a blow to the dignity. And so woe to all involved in the fraudulent coven. For money doesn't matter, and only life has value.

The synopsis conveys the picture more than fully. Grandpa John once again takes revenge with dishonest people, and unrealistically delivers.

Probably the main credit to the Lions gate bosses for bringing in Kevin Grothert. For the reason that his two Saw movies were very good. The tenth movie of the franchise Grotert conceptually plagiarized from himself - John Kramer again punishes those who deprived him of the opportunity to recover, as it was in the sixth part of the franchise. Only now, instead of greedy bureaucrats from the health jurisdiction, it's just a gang of racial grifters.

And this move works, because we are fourteen years away from the sixth installment of Saw. And given the failed attempts of the Spierig brothers and old Bousman, the new round of Constructor's games is gore & violnce. The R rating works wonderfully for the lack of creativity. From the first minutes we are caught up in a maelstrom of sayings and thought-forms of Constructor, to which every minute we are joined by new and new turns of this puzzle. Plus there is a traditional for the world of Saw theme of human greed. There is no sense to enumerate the traps, they are good, and all came to sin and punishment. Things like this.

Tobin Bell in general should be given credit: unlike many type actors, - Tobin keeps the brand. His character, despite the fact that he has aged, and it is sadly felt, still remains a thoughtful maniac, not deprived of his own worldview in relation to the guilty victims. Kramer is not just a 'voice' or a 'mock-up' (as was the case with the Spierig brothers), he fully advances the plot, and carries the dynamic. My main concern was just the aforementioned fleeting appearance of Tobin Bell in the film, which is why the same Spierig brothers' movie came out average in my opinion. But, Grotert obviously took into account all the experiences of fans, so John Kramer in the movie a lot, just a lot, and not only him.

But, if you are a Saw fan like me, be prepared for a number of surprises. The actor has aged, it's very striking. He's in his ninth decade. The concept is as old as the world - Here are the guilty, and here is the executioner-Kramer, aka Judge-Jigsaw. I praise the director solely for the brutality of the presentation and the complete absence of romance, well, it is not needed in the story. Neither do the introductions. Saw fans are hungry for action, and in case of the tenth movie they will get it in full. With this movie, Grandpa Tobin makes it clear that it's too early to write him off, and in some ways he's right. Let's hope the producers let the story go.
