Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland 4K 1989 Ultra HD 2160p

‘Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland’ and ‘Sleepaway Camp II’ were filmed at the same time. This means that Michael Simpson drenched the second installment in blood, snot, sweat, and crap, but completely forgot about the third... I like to compare movies to food, so that’s what I’ll do now: the first one is basically cafeteria casserole; the second is delicious potatoes with meat; the third is sunflower seeds. And not sunflower seeds, but pumpkin seeds, man. That means the movie turned out raw and... gray. Angela killed off the entire camp in the previous installment and killed off almost everyone in this one... On the plus side of this installment (i.e., *No Man’s Land*), there’s some wild humor: Pamela was hilarious killing the old man with a stick. And after killing one of the girls, she said, “It’s a good thing you died. Otherwise, in 10 years, your boobs would’ve sagged.” Oh my, so brilliant [tears of joy and the face of a chubby Chinese deity]. I also loved the ending with the “final girl” (played by Melanie Griffith’s sister), when she tells the surviving guy that she has a friend at home. And the immortal “Increasing the body count” before the credits?

However, all of this is scattered throughout the film, and you have to pick up on it as you watch. The movie starts with Angela arriving in town after the events of the sequel and killing a girl with almost no breasts, after which she arrives incognito at yet another camp. I liked how Angela handled things there. Despite her obvious exhaustion and worn-out appearance, she still killed (she did her job professionally), and at the end, when Sister Melanie stabs her, I actually felt sorry for the killer. Seriously, the characters in all three parts of this slasher film are just so unpleasant. Angela at least has charisma; as for the rest, there’s nothing (absolutely nothing) like that to speak of. Unlikable characters, and that’s about it… Another thing I want to say about the third installment: it’s not a slasher, but a parody. Technically, it resembles a trash film, and thematically, too. The music here is like something out of a dumb comedy. Though, in principle, it’s not bad (it doesn’t annoy me—so whatever).

For me, “Sleepaway Camp” ended with the third episode. I definitely won’t be watching whatever comes next. I don’t like wasting time on worthless crap. I’d rather spend my time on worthwhile crap… and enjoy it. I’ll have to rewatch the whole trilogy in a couple of days.
