In a small town surrounded by corn fields, 12-year-old preacher Isaac appears. He encourages children to kill adults in order to nourish thirsty fields with their blood. Isaac forbids children to play, urging them to sacrifice themselves to the fields on the day of their 19th birthday. Many try to run, but he catches up with them!

I have not read the original source, tonight I will definitely correct it, but what I saw is ideologically very reminiscent of a genius author. And the point here is not child abuse, which undoubtedly scares you to goosebumps, and, moreover, it has nothing to do with the abstract corn monster, which is only a genre application, because the whole root of evil lies in religious madness. With what enthusiasm, diligence, and most importantly, with stubborn regularity, humanity does all kinds of lewdness with its neighbors for religious reasons. Mass reveals the prophet, he eloquently identifies enemies. Without them, no how - there are adepts, and those will find someone to call unbelievers.

The main advantage of the picture is its atmosphere. An abandoned, deserted town. The remnants of life are still quite fresh here. It is already getting uncomfortable. The last straw will be the kids, the flowers of life, blinded by a fanatical desire to exterminate adults. I've already seen this in other paintings, but it's terrifying every time.

The general impression is spoiled by the clumsy denouement, where the genre orgy begins. Perhaps the book version came out much more successful, but the blatant cheapness of the effects, plus the temporary idiocy of the protagonist, all this together finally ruined the ending.

I will recommend the film for viewing, but unobtrusively, it is a modest thriller, the first half of which is very impressive for its atmosphere, but the fuse and directorial skills were clearly not enough to see the full pleasure.
