Scream 4K 2022 Ultra HD 2160p
Twenty-five years after the brutal murders that rocked the quiet town of Woodsboro and the cult slasher series based on those events, high school student Tara is attacked in the same way as in the movie. Upon learning of what has happened, her older sister Sam returns to Woodsboro and asks for the help of former town sheriff Dewey Riley in catching the new killer hiding behind the mask of Ghostface.

Review 4K Movie

The 'Scream' series of films could be considered the benchmark of the Slasher genre. It's a complex use and, in places, a mockery of horror clichés with sudden twists and a classic example of 'Final Girl'. Of course, after the controversial Part 4 (I personally liked it), there was little hope for a sequel, much less a normal sequel. However, the sequel did happen.

And it is excellent.

What we can praise the creators for is that they didn't completely come up with new gimmicks. Why? Scream is not a case for experimentation. The scheme is simple and the workings of this franchise are simple: here we have again a group of teenagers who know all the rules of horror movies and are trying to figure out who the killer is. And in doing so, not to die. It's a classic plot twist. But! We don't have a complete repetition of the previous parts here. Particularly successful is the outcome of the opening action. Not a spoiler - the call and question about "favorite horror movie" again, only with a surprise. As has been said, there is a mockery of clichés here. Example: the shattering of expectations when the hero's view is blocked by a door/corner/action behind him. Details will be spoilers, so just that - the authors have presented the humor component very intelligently and appropriately, creating the perfect symbiosis with a horror movie.

Next in order.

Actors and Characters.

- Right off about one of the main stars and characters of "Scream" - Neve Campbell as Sydney Prescott is as good as ever. A combative and smart girl. Well, alas and ah: she's put on the back burner here. Most likely, this result is justified by the fact that the authors decided not to exploit the moment of the killer's personal score with Sidney. Hence the level of secondary importance is less.

- The other character Ghostface didn't get much better either. Generally speaking, there are two factors to evaluate PL: the voice and the acting because they are different actors. And both factors are canonical. Pl by speaking is as capable as ever of putting the panic on the victim. And the live performance sticks to tradition. It's still the same maniac whose actions are elaborate, yet he is rebuffed by his victims. That makes the events look more realistic.

- David Arquette as retired sheriff Dewey Riley has finally "matured". Throughout the parts we could see both his career growth and his training in terms of survival in a horror movie. Now he's a serious man.

- In contrast, with Courtney Cox as Gail Weathers, she has lost her combative disposition and has become softer in her conversations. In past installments, she's been in character as the brash reporter. The irony is that the "gunpowder" she said was still there in the last part is apparently gone. Related to that is the fact that her surroundings didn't piss her off. But in the fight scenes she's still just as feisty.

There is nothing bad to say about the new cast of victims and protagonists. Almost everyone here is given a reveal. And in such a way that it is impossible to say for sure whether they are cannon fodder. Combined with the aforementioned mockery of clichés, the shattering of expectations of their deaths creates a great effect. All in all - in the Creek tradition, all the characters are familiar with horror movies and know the laws for surviving in them. Hence the "clearly, he's about to die" effect is virtually nonexistent until the final outcome. And when it was observed, it didn't happen. And what really succeeded was to withhold until the end of the film the answer to the question: who is the killer? Unlike Part 4, in which it was clear almost at the beginning. Of course, it's not all that smooth. The motive of the killer was very disappointing. On the one hand, it wasn't clear throughout the whole movie. But when all the cards were revealed, it became sad with absurdity. In the previous episodes all the assassins had a clear and well-grounded motive. In this part there was apparently enough strength to conceal the killer's identity. Thank you for that at least.

The cameo role of one vivid character was very well done.

Special effects and fight scenes.

Everything is natural. The classic knife wounds are portrayed quite well. Of course, because of the current censorship, the stabbing and the aftermath are shown less colorfully, but at least not behind the scenes. The beating scenes are staged in the spirit of the previous parts - the characters do not forget to use the surrounding objects and just fight back the killer.

Soundtrack .

Perfectly builds up the suspense and describes the atmosphere of horror and suspense. It's all in the spirit of the previous installments. Also very pleased with the way it describes the aforementioned destruction of expectations.

Bottom line: We can say without a doubt that the film is a success. Personally, I was expecting it to be a simple parody of the past episodes. Again there would be the hackneyed theme of personal revenge or family conflicts. But the authors have managed to introduce a new storyline that does not interrupt or undermine the previous events. It complements them and can exist separately. I may be exaggerating, but Scream 2022 is a fresh breath of the slasher genre. Or, at the very least, a good horror flick for an evening of popcorn.
