Story Movie

A few months in the life of aging British rock band Spinal Tap, slowly slipping from the heights of former glory to the bottom of the music world during a farewell tour of the United States.

Review 4K Movie

With the fictional band Spinal Tap, talented director Rob Reiner (played in the film by the band's constant companion, a bearded, overweight man in a cap) not only hilariously mocked the whole heavy metal glam show of the 70s and 80s, but more importantly, traced the path of virtually any heavy metal band: packed stadiums, awards, later waning public interest, a string of failures, breakups, and so on and so forth. In every scene of the film, you can find an analogy to one band or another. For example, the hilarious moment with Stonehenge clearly recalls Black Sabbath's disastrous album Born Again with its weird cover, and the band's bassist looks so much like Lemmy from Motörhead. I think experienced guys will find other similarities as well. That's why Spinal Tap is a timeless hit, because nothing has changed so far. Fashion is fleeting, fame is fleeting, but rock ‘n’ roll lives on. And the fact that such unrealistically delusional bands as The Darkness still exist and fill concert halls adds a special touch of fun, while new stylistic parodies of the genre, such as Russell Brand in Get Him to the Greek, are hitting the screens.
