Review 4K Movie

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away, there was a dragon. Oh no, it was not a wise and noble silver dragon, which is rightly attributed most of the virtues, but a bloodthirsty green dragon, not very clever, but certainly formidable and cruel. And since the dragon is cruel and unjust, he began to scare the ordinary people, and devour beautiful maidens. Fields burned, villages burned, and the armies of the noble king also burned. But this could not last long, and so a cunning and treacherous king ascended to the throne, who decided to make a deal with the dragon. The latter will get a virgin on the due date, and in exchange the dragon will stop tyrannizing ordinary people. The dragon thought and thought and agreed. After all, why ruin a province that will feed him? Ordinary people grumbled a little, complained that the king-abuser of their daughters under Zugunder, but then gave up on it. Because we are simple people, if the government said that the only way to solve the problem with the dragon, then who are we to argue with this? Years have passed. One generation was replaced by another, and now a group of young people, tired to tolerate the tyranny of the dragon, decides to go to the mighty sorcerer who lives far away, so that he saved the common people from scaly scourge. But the young daredevils do not know that they are followed by the captain of the king's guard, who is charged with killing both the sorcerer and all those who serve him. And from this moment our story begins. A story that will be filled with betrayal and treason, nobility and love, swordfighting and powerful magic. This is the story of the "dragon conqueror."

It has become customary that when the word dragon is mentioned, the viewer immediately associates it with a fairy tale, whether it is old Soviet pictures about the Snake Gorynych or American pictures - "Endless Story," "Dragon Heart," "The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad." And that's good, and that's right, because movies in which magical creatures act cannot be anything but a fairy tale. Take "The Hobbit," for example. Evil orcs, bloodthirsty goblins, cunning Smaug, they all look like dangerous fellows, capable of taking the heroes apart at once, but the story itself is presented as a fairy tale, and sometimes cruel, and sometimes too gloomy, But the main hero is a young halfling Bilbo Baggins, who in spite of all the horror he will go through, will still be the same kind and sympathetic hobbit with a beaming smile on his lips. Thus "The Hobbit" is able to please both children and their parents due to its fabulousness. Why did I decide to make this excursus into history, instead of starting to describe the advantages and disadvantages of the reviewed film? And it's very simple. "Winner of Dragons" lacks the storytelling that was inherent in "Heart of the Dragon. It is more of a heroic fantasy, where blood spurts, where grim and hungry peasants look at the heroes with contempt and throw in their direction phrases, which may consist in the following: "Go away, you mangy heroes, we had a good life without you". What's wrong with that? Nothing, except that one shouldn't show such movies to children, because a crucified virgin who is being gorgeously eaten by a baby dragon can cause a lot of feelings and emotions, up to hysterics. You know, it's not a good thing.

All right, but what about the adult audience and will they like this movie? You know, I can't answer this question unequivocally, because this film was very ambiguous. On the one hand we have great costumes, quality special effects and an imposing dragon that looks impressive even by modern standards, what to say about the distant '81? On the other hand, the actors play average or below average, due to the fact that their faces do not show any emotions, their characters are banal or even absent, and even if the dialogues of the characters are written above all praise, in general you do not believe the characters of this movie. On the one hand, the storyline seems interesting and not stupid, but on the other hand, at the expense of "acting" the story seems too dragged out and many scenes could have been omitted. On the one hand, the movie raises disturbing themes, but on the other hand, they do not cause the same impact as in the Soviet film "To Defeat the Dragon", due to the same actors who do not believe in what they do. On the one hand, the musical accompaniment is very good, but on the other hand, the film lacks the violent scenes and naked female bodies, for which the motion pictures of the genre are famous. Thus, the viewer is presented with a certainly beautiful film, with impressive visuals, a dark and at times oppressive atmosphere of the "dark Middle Ages", but soulless in its essence. In principle, if you are willing to turn a blind eye to the actors' acting, the film will certainly appeal to you. But on the other hand, wouldn't it be easier to watch/review "Game of Thrones" or the pictures I mentioned above?
