Superman IV: The Quest for Peace 4K 1987 Ultra HD 2160p
A sequel to the Superman comic book adaptation. This time - the Kryptonian will have to destroy all nuclear weapons, raise the prelude to peace, as well as sort out his feelings and fight with the next enemy.

Review 4K Movie

It had been four years since 'Superman 3' was released, but the producers, who passed over the unflattering remarks of critics and viewers who covered the picture with the most slyly foul language, decided to finish it off with a fourth part in which the authors almost tearfully ask for it: Destroy all nuclear weapons, please...

So a certain kid from a certain American Kryzhoply writes a letter to Superman asking the hero to rid the world of nuclear weapons (apparently, so that, like in an episode of The Simpsons, they would fight with nail sticks). The hero suddenly takes these words to heart. But so does his old acquaintance Lex Luthor - having once again escaped, he plans to destroy Superman with nuclear weapons, for which he steals Superman's hair, grows some plastic bag out of it, sends the bag to the Sun, and there it mutates into an evil nuclear man, and right away in a suit (Oh my god!). With a new problem, Super.

Mdems... It's really messed up. Sidney J. Fury, who God forbid has three more or less good movies under his belt, lets us watch the good and peaceful Superman (thanks again to Christopher Reeve!) save the clinically insane. No, really. And okay if the Russians, represented in the film by the ridiculous cosmonauts and the evil businessman with the grotesque mustache - here almost all are idiots. Lex Luthor, the most dangerous criminal, is held in a quarry with two guards. Lois Lane rolls to the point where the entire movie stubbornly refuses to notice that Superman arrives exactly when Clark Kent disappears. And it's the fourth part, it's about time. Too bad about Margo Kidder, she tried. Lex Luthor's entourage is still brainless, but if in the first two movies there was good-natured Otis and Evie Teschmacher with the boobs like that, now it's Lex's clown-like nephew and a trio of businessmen.

And then there's Nuclear Man. Basically, he's a pretty good villain, but I wish he'd been in the comic book. And so it seems, and the face is normal, and the costume is nice (the dancers of some kind of variety-sports dance company should take note, in such clothes can come up with some kind of dance, like a parade of planets or something (hey, I'm full of bright ideas!). I'll give you a point for that.

But the special effects... Terrible. More or less normal only when Nuclear Man is having a mayhem in the middle of the street. As for the rest - dead tired editing, sheer props and blatant disregard for at least the laws of physics, be it the ability to build walls with one look and easily cut the tops of mountains with a laser, though his laser is not that strong, as well as capes and hair fluttering in vacuum, an ordinary girl breathing freely in space (!), etc.

But maybe it's a TV movie, because TV movies are bribes free and all this idiocy is understandable, because it's inherent in most heroic TV productions? No, the budget was 17 million and it was in theaters. It's a complete disaster. Reeve, Hackman, Kidder and Nuclear Man are good, the rest is rubbish.
