After a party, a group of friends wake up to a bright light hitting the window. They see people on the street being pulled into a pillar of light and upward somewhere. Soon after, a sweep of the remaining humans begins on the planet, and the survivors have to fight for their lives against the alien creatures.

Review 4K Movie

The slogan of the movie "Skyline" (same thing, only in English letters, 2010): "Don't look up." What I want to say about this movie is: ... no, not "Don't look up at all," but "Don't look at the budget. Really, you see a tiny, by the standards of the genre and of the widescreen project in general, $10,000,000 ("District 9" cost $30,000,000 for comparison) and somehow you don't believe that the screen will show you normal, high-quality special effects, worthy of the technically high title of science fiction. But in fact - they are and there are many!

Basically, because of them, on them and thanks to them the movie is worth watching (well, and because of the ambiguous subjective final that I personally liked, but more about that later), so if you turn to the question "To go or not to go", I say this - I went and did not regret a bit, The more so that fantastic genre and riot of computer graphics dispose the spectator to the big screen, and the sane and even successful special effects with the attack of the next aliens not without original technology of capturing, their giant spaceships, flying sprats ala "Matrix", climbing giants ala... Well, who often plays computer games will find with what to compare and powerful explosions (here we did not do without humanity), and just close contact with the monsters (because of the modest budget I was afraid that the flashes of light and ships in the sky and all the graphics and will end, but no - affected and humans, And if you look at how much all this eye-opening spectacle cost, you can applaud the creators for the blockbuster-worthy computerized scope on a budget that is far from a blockbuster movie.

The setting is set in the same city and the same hotel, so don't expect global action and travel anywhere. But though the characters are locked in a limited space, the impression of watching it does not strain at all - their observations, attacks on them and near them, as well as special effects outside the window in the format of the whole city already suppress a bunch of characters in a world of their own, of course, not without the help of aliens all the time decreasing company. At the same time there will be attempts to escape, and even a couple of unexpected moments in the frame.

The overall plot disposes to unencumbered by thoughts, all-around entertaining pastime. The story begins with a fascinating plot flashback, continues with a slightly boring, but rather just ordinary acquaintance with a rather ordinary group of young people (in the sense that you can hardly tell any of the characters from the crowd by their chip in character or appearance), and then comes numerous special effects and not so numerous rescue attempts. There is no boredom, no humor (and there is no need for it), but the dosed entertainment is often enough not to regret spending an hour and a half on the project - I personally did not regret it.

The actors play not bad - not an Oscar, of course (and why is it there?), but they didn't score too badly either - the central characters have an impressive pile of roles under their belt, though in series or projects not of the highest level. The girls are unfamiliar and pretty, but no more. But the actors, I recognize them all. Separately nice for Eric Balfour - so much he went to horror movies, and here the main role in a fairly large and project for a mass audience. Series favorites David Zayas ("Dexter's Justice") and Donald Faison ("Scrubs") also pleased with their presence and new characters.

The finale separately is worthy of three words of praise and one...shall we say, remark. Remark consists in a floating final scene, or even stolen final point, which by the way does not spoil the film, or vice versa. And praise in three points:

1) You watch the film and for more than 80 minutes you see the main characters hiding and the aliens snooping around with special effects - that is, in fact, all the elements of the plot, but at the very end, in the last 5-10 minutes the characters' feelings and relations come through which you never knew about except one episode - in general, in the finale the romanticism scale is off the scale, naturally seasoned by the terrible attributes of the action.

2) The finale tells and shows what the alien invaders are doing to humans.

3) the ending itself is more sane-realistic than the similarly alien-oriented "Independence Day" and "War of the Worlds", in the sense that I still believe in the ending of "Skyline", though it remains under a question mark, but my inner skeptic still doubts the plausibility of the ending of those two films.
