Review 4K Movie

The tape 'Howard the Duck' is very difficult to give a definite assessment, I would say it is very difficult to make the ordinary verdict 'good' or 'bad', for the simple and frank reason that this is an extraordinary film in itself, an adventure enchanting comedy merged in it in an unusual way , science fiction and a kind of farce for films about aliens and space.

Of course, 'Howard' in no way belongs to the category of 'serious cinema', it has neither deep meaning, nor a dashingly twisted plot, nor well-developed images of the main 'human' characters, in fact, it visually looks like one solid and rabid banter over all conceivable and inconceivable film science fiction and yet despite the luridness of the film, this film is very difficult to erase from memory.

To say that I just like this film, or that this is one of my favorite comedies of the 80s era, is to say too little, I have very vivid and very bright memories associated with this film, one might say, this is one of the most important films of my distant gone childhood of the beginning of the two thousandth, I perfectly remember that early January morning when I, quite a young man, with a childish heart filled with a festive New Year's fabulous celebration, turned on the STS channel and saw this miracle, this amazing film. ..

For a strange reason, I associate this film with early childhood, the period when I just went to first grade, the period when I was not even interested in the cinema of the twentieth century, the period when my soul, my thoughts and my feelings were sincere and childishly clean. ..

Definitely in that era there were a bunch of other, similar, similar films, but it was 'Howard' that at one time became for me that integral, unforgettable part of something long gone, long past, something that cannot be returned, but never forgotten. .. If I were offered to choose to watch the old film version of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' or 'Howard', I would unconditionally choose the second film, for the simple reason that it is an integral part of that era and that period of my life.

Of course, for viewers who have not seen the film, one should not expect something special from this creation, some super-technological special effects (at that time there were already films with a more spectacular visual series), a brilliant acting cast, a brilliant script, although there certainly is and what to see, firstly, the atmosphere of the eighties is brilliantly served here, secondly, an amazing musical accompaniment is selected, and thirdly, a funny and damn cute main character. ...

Actually, the central character of the plot of the tape, namely the alien-duck Howard, is the main highlight of the whole film, it is incredibly funny, touching and interesting to watch him: He smokes cigars and lights a match a la Clint Eastwood for refuel, is very witty in his language, knows the techniques martial arts with a strange name 'quack-fu', has an incredible talent in every possible way to pin up the people around him, he understands ill-wishers in his own way, loves beer and plays great musical instruments.

And the situations, adventures and incidents in which our alien friend falls are just worthy of a separate discussion: either Howard first flies to a planet alien to him, then he raises the entire street to his feet, then forces the manager of the rock group to return the honestly earned money to its members, then becomes an object hunt by the police, breaking away from it on a dilapidated hang glider, then engages in a battle with a powerful alien demon, in a word, Indestructible Howard will show on Earth to everyone who is lazy where the crayfish winter.

As for the technical and formal components of the film, the 'Duckling' obviously loses a little to its 'colleagues' in genre and time, all these lighting effects, the eyes of the obsessed professor burning with a blue flame are unoriginal and not very beautiful, even the same 'Aliens' of the same 1986, looked an order of magnitude higher and technically exciting than our 'Howard', did not pull out the technical side and the production work of George Lucas himself, although his perseverance and desire to create a good movie commands real respect - to spend as much as 2 million dollars for just one Howard suit is how dedicated you need to be!

I really want to praise the humorous component of the film, I will not say that the director Willard Hike succeeded in it with triumph, but at least there is no complete idiocy in it, there is no vulgarity, and the comedic moments with the participation of the main upright drake are more than successful.

And at the expense of the cast, as I said above, she is far from brilliant, not bad if you evaluate it by the standards of a mid-level comedy, but she does not pull up to a higher bar, I really liked Lee Thompson and Tim Robbins, they kind of complement with their play the brilliant play of Ed Gale, who embodied Howard, and of those who did not like it, it was Jeffrey Jones, his doctor Jenning turned out to be too problematic character, from which there is more trouble than good.

I would also like to positively highlight the soundtrack performed by John Barry, brilliant, beautiful, sometimes heartbreaking melodies - this is perhaps the fourth advantage of the film.
