Story Movie

1873, Absolution, Arizona. A stranger who has lost his memory arrives in this remote American province. The only hint of his past is the strange shackles on one of his wrists. The wanderer quickly learns that the town's inhabitants do not welcome strangers and generally take to the streets only on the orders of Colonel Dolarheid, who rules the area with an iron hand. There is an explanation for this: the town is terrorized by creepy creatures. The hero gradually remembers himself and realizes that it is only in his power to help the unfortunate.

Review 4K Movie

What do you think would happen if you mixed Indiana, Bond, plus an alien invasion and the Wild Wild West into one movie? It would be Cowboys & Aliens.

Despite the cluster of mixed genres and perhaps some absurdity, I think this movie is one of the coolest and most entertaining. Even though it's far from Jon Favreau's most serious and sustained movie, I still don't think he set out to make it that way. And since no one had high hopes for this movie, from that there is a lot of attention to it, but there is little to no seriousness.

The big project from “Cowboys & Aliens” did not turn out, but it was a beautiful, maybe even powerful movie, which is really worthy of the viewer's attention. Do not be skeptical about this movie, because the main thing is that it is a pleasure to watch. Made you laugh, tense up, worry about the characters, feel its atmosphere. I think Jon Favreau has achieved such an effect this time.

I was lucky to watch this movie for the first time without dubbing, so the characters and actors are perceived much better and closer when watching. And the actors in the movie are most anything but decent.

Jake Lonergan is James Bond, only caught in the XIX century. Daniel Craig 's image of Agent 007 continues to please: his hero is a real macho cowboy, a conqueror of women and a storm of “bad guys”, who are mostly aliens here. Holding on to his hat, having found answers to all questions and riding off into the sunset, after parting with the woman he loves, Jake goes in search of a new self to help other unfortunate people and maybe kill a couple more aliens. Here's a former bad boy who eventually becomes a good guy. Yes, why invent something new, when there is a well not forgotten old one? In general, Craig turned out to be the coolest and just a real cowboy, unlike, maybe, from some others. Tough cowboy, steadfastly enduring chases, shooting, meetings with monsters, with a stone face and beautiful eyes.

The ageless Harrison Ford, as it seems to me, tried very hard to make himself a bad colonel, who is always yelling, wheezing, defends his son and hates Indians. The character is annoying, but that doesn't stop the viewer from admiring how courageously he rushes forward on his horse to teach the aliens who have encroached on his deadeye and cattle a lesson.

Ella, played by Olivia Wilde, is more complicated. At first, she is all eerily incomprehensible, clinging to Lonergan out of the blue, even scares and causes dislike. As the clouds thicken over the desert, her mystery comes to light. The writers, I think, didn't think long about her fate, but the ending is epic and touching.

And here comes the drama, which not everyone will be able to feel from the first time. But there is drama and meaning. The meaning of sacrifice. By sacrificing yourself, you save the lives of others. You rush headlong into danger, just to save your loved ones. And no monsters are scary when their lives are at stake. Let the pathosically presented ideas of the movie are transparent, but they are simple and quite interesting.

I liked Sam Rockwell (honestly, it's hard to even recognize him) as a doctor. A typical battered guy working in a bar. But when he loses his wife, he shows courage and even bravery.

And how can I not mention Noah Ringer? His debut in The Last Airbender was accompanied by cruel and unfounded cries that the guy was no good as an actor, but it turns out to be the opposite. As the avatar, he was quite sincere and open, after all, it was his first role and he's just a kid. As Emmett, the grandson of the local sheriff, he looks every bit as good. The first time we see him we see him still just a boy, scared and inexperienced. By the end of the movie, he really grows up, having ridden more than a hundred miles on horseback, meeting bandits and even killing one big alien. Worthy of praise? Noah has really done well in his role. We can only hope that he gets only better projects and roles, and bears the burden of being a famous teenager with dignity, with no signs of stardom.

Be that as it may, both the special effects and the scale of the movie's filming, plus the monsters, chases and the like are still big pluses of the movie. Not to forget the excellent soundtrack, I think the music accompaniment of some scenes is even excellent.

And let “Cowboys & Aliens” is a movie for entertainment and no more, having watched it once, perhaps, there will be no desire to do it again and again. But once you see it, after more than one hour will accompany you the atmosphere of the Wild West, fantastic chases and fights. The line drawn by the creators of the film between aliens and cowboys is too wide, and this searing strange mixture will not please many people, but it will distract, and the lucky ones, who will see the film in theaters, will be hot in the last cold days of summer.
