Eric Draven returns from the world of the dead to avenge his girlfriend's killers and bring her back from the underworld.

I've never had such a hard time describing a plot synopsis. First, because the description itself is already a spoiler. Secondly, the story is known to everyone and it's hard to fit something new into one sentence. So I will go straight to the pros and cons.

Pros:

+ Bill Skarsgard. He drags this movie not only thanks to his dice and tattoos (which is also important), but also with his acting. Yes, the set of his character's lines is very limited and banal, there will be no philosophy here. But Skarsgard himself, his close-ups, emotions on a ten.

+ Enough time is given to Eric and Shelly.

+ Scene at the Opera. Without spoilers to say anything will not come out, I will tell simply - it is a magnificent bloody dessert for eyes. Beautifully shot, dynamic. The hall applauded.

+ Music. The soundtrack is divine, and for the title song Take wha U want a special thank you, back on my playlist from 2019.

Cons:

- There's a sense that the timing made the editors cut the tape up quite a bit. There are abrupt transitions, some scenes that were in the trailer are missing.

- From the first minus smoothly follows the second. Yes, there is a lot of couple in love here. But you don't have time to feel their love (and the whole Sanders plot is based on it). Moreover, very little of their history before the rehab is shown, and as a result we get two hippie drug addicts, which also hinders sympathy and empathy.

- FKA Twigs. There's a suspicion that she was brought in to do the songs. But (perhaps again because of the cut scenes) we only hear two or three lines. And the rest of the movie, she doesn't pull it off.

I fundamentally do not compare this Skarsgard to Lee. They are two different stories based on the same comic book. In the end, any new reading is at first met with hostility. And in about 30 years, it can grow to a cult classic.

My verdict: the movie is uneven, but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the pictures, the action, the music and... Skarsgard. He has the type of psychos, angels of death and demons, no one dares to argue.

Who definitely shouldn't see it

- ardent fans of Lee's “The Crow”, who consider it an insult to the memory of the actor to shoot something new (they'd better boycott the sequels);

- those who are not ready to look at rivers of blood and entrails (the movie is very good at elaborating all the scenes of violence and murder).

The rest of us should go see it. It's been a long time since anything good has been officially shown here. So you need to catch the moment.
