While watching the film, the anger of the unsophisticated southerners resonated deeply with me, especially since the characters in Rebirth demonstrated absolute unsinkability in the truest sense of the word.

Given my passionate love for the first two Parks films, the Jurassic worlds consistently provoked indignation in me, which reached its peak after watching Dominion, consisting of a chaotic set of scenes with dinosaurs and meaningless dialogues. It seemed that nothing worse could possibly be created...

It's not like I was expecting something supernatural from the new film. The trailers for Rebirth gave the impression that we were in for a classic run-around-the-island adventure in the style of the third Park movie. There was no clumsy moralizing in the spirit of the previous installments, such as “dinosaurs are people too”... Moreover, David Koepp, who worked on Spielberg's original films, was brought in to work on the script: and although his participation raised some doubts (after all, in Koepp's scripts, characters spend 1.5 minutes aiming at animals and walking through the forest in bloodstained jackets, knowing that they may attract predators), hope, as usual, dies last.

However, the first few minutes mercilessly convince us that the king is not only naked, but also fake (hello again, Mark Twain). Scarlett Johansson looks like a typical person off the street who was suddenly told that she would be starring in an expensive blockbuster. Perhaps she looks most natural at the beginning of the story, when she clumsily hides a silly smile, rejoicing at her participation in a “Jurassic movie.” Mahershala Ali doesn't look any better, laughing after every line like Idi Amin. Rupert Friend makes a nasty face at every opportunity. The frankly unpleasant girl from the Delgado family, like her other relatives, seems to be needed only to set up the appearance of dinosaurs. Against this backdrop, Jonathan Bailey doesn't even raise any complaints — his hysterical, infantile character has long been an integral part of the franchise.

The plot, in the good old tradition, is based on fragments of previous films. The heroes need dinosaur genetic material – this is from Jurassic Park (by the way, some scenes from the long-suffering film are directly copied in Rebirth). There is a certain Object B, hidden from prying eyes—ah, it's The Lost World. A family suffers a shipwreck—The Third Park. Evil hybrids based on the T-Rex and the raptor roam around—Jurassic World 1 and Fallen Kingdom . Animal DNA will be used for medical research—this has already been boasted about in ‘Dominion’. By the way, why wasn't it used earlier?

Because when watching ‘Rebirth’, you absolutely cannot ask questions, otherwise it will be too painful. Why does Johansson clumsily justify himself to tourists who themselves have obviously violated the boundaries of the restricted area? Why pull the boat out of the shed right under the T-Rex's nose with such ferocity (in the novel, this scene is played out much more logically)? How did the rubber boat remain afloat after being caught in the teeth of a tyrannosaurus? How is it possible to survive a fall from the height of a 20-story building? Why does the team of mercenaries behave worse than the hooligans from the third Park? At least there they explained that their commander actually works as an impresario—but who are the heroes Johansson and Ali really? After films like Wild Geese, Dogs of War, and Darkness Under the Sun, one thing is certain—they are definitely not experienced mercenaries. During the first attack, one of the “mercenaries” tries to shoot back with a bizarre rifle—and is immediately killed. In Crichton's novel, the park keeper convinced the management to buy at least one grenade launcher—but the wealthy company is content with an old shotgun and a pistol?

As a result, the only one who evokes sympathy and pity is the shady businessman played by Friend. He has minimal charisma and a clear goal that he is trying to achieve. But even he loses his common sense when he drinks water from the river or climbs onto the roof of a jeep for some reason, as if he wants to end up in the jaws of a dinosaur...

Even the lizards, which desperately filled the narrative in ‘The Dominion’, serve a purely utilitarian function. The long-necked ones are supposed to stare with their mouths wide open, the dilophosaurs crawl out of the bushes and hide back in a minute, the flying raptors turn out to be dumber than small herbivores, the sea lizard parodies ‘Jaws’, and the flying ones parody scenes from the third ‘Jurassic Park’. It's just sad to pit a weak tyrannosaurus against aquatic spinosaurs... The much-hyped Distortus Rex evokes nothing but disgust.

It is appalling that Hollywood is now incapable of making even a B-grade adventure film, and one can only hope that the Jurassic ‘worlds’ will fade into oblivion.
