Story Movie

The battleship USS Missouri, decommissioned from active duty, is on its way to the U.S. coast. During the crossing it is seized by terrorists who want to use the remaining weapons on board to achieve their goals. They almost succeed, but then the ship's cook - former Marine special forces commander Casey Ryback - intervenes.

Review 4K Movie

A legendary action film in every sense of the word. Steven Seagal's best and highest-grossing film. Ask anyone what Seagal film they've seen, and nine out of ten will remember this one.

Although today's teenagers may not appreciate this film, as the priorities in cinema are different now. But the generation of the 90s, who grew up on films such as Under Siege and Die Hard, certainly appreciate such seemingly distant masterpieces.

The film's protagonist, Casey Ryback (Steven Seagal), seems at first glance to be an ordinary guy. He serves as a cook on the American battleship Missouri. He is the master of the kitchen and just a great guy.

The battleship sets off on its last voyage. However, it turns into a nightmare when a group of terrorists boards the ship and, with the support of the commander, takes over the entire ship in a matter of minutes. Their goal is to steal nuclear warheads, which they plan to sell for a hefty sum. Everything seems to be going according to plan. However, they made a fatal mistake by underestimating the local CHEF, Casey.

It turns out that Casey is a professional soldier, an elite commando fighter, and a former Navy SEAL. He is a specialist in the highest quality military arts, a brilliant tactician, and an expert in explosives. He is also the recipient of numerous awards, including the highest American honors: the Silver Star, the Navy Cross, and the Purple Heart. On top of all that, he's a pretty good cook. Now, almost single-handedly, he will thwart the terrorists' plans and save the entire ship's crew from destruction.

This is the fifth film in Steven's career. Here, his character is no longer like Nico, as he was in the first four films. This is confirmed by the fact that our snobbish translators translated this film not as “Nico 5” but as “Under Siege” (by the way, in the television version, the film is called “Capture”). Steven Seagal's character Casey is extremely cool. Casey can be compared to John McClane from Die Hard. Both heroes are loners who save people from terrorists, and it's hard to imagine anything cooler than that.

The acting of Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey is also noteworthy. Beusey's role is particularly memorable, as he managed to accurately convey the image of the unstable and maniacal Commander Krill. As for Tommy Lee Jones, he is magnificent as always. He is an excellent actor and it is no surprise that he is an Oscar winner (it's a pity that it wasn't for this role).

In addition to all of the above, the cinematography, cool special effects, fight and shootout scenes, in which Seagal is as inimitable as ever, and Gary Chang's excellent music (plus a couple of songs by Jimi Hendrix) are also memorable.

Under Siege is a brilliant creation by director Andrew Davis and actor Steven Seagal. It is a timeless film, a film that time has no power over. A film that you enjoy rewatching once or twice a year and each time you root for Steven's character, even though you already know that he will spare no one and emerge victorious from any battle.
