Story Movie
Alternative future. In England, after a terrible epidemic of an unknown virus that plunged the country into chaos, a brutal dictatorship of the imperious chancellor is established with all the accompanying delights: a curfew, the omnipotence of party members over ordinary people and, of course, hundreds of secret informers. One night, a freedom fighter known as V appears in London and begins a guerrilla war against the regime in an attempt to reclaim the freedom taken from it. In this war, he attracts to his side a young woman whom he snatched from the clutches of the secret police.
Review 4K Movie
Some will disagree, but I will say that 'V for Vendetta' is a masterpiece. This is a very deep and mesmerizing film. Perhaps one of the best pictures that raises the topic of totalitarianism. I will try to substantiate my opinion.
Perhaps, I'll start with the fact that everything is shot very colorfully. The Wachowskis acted as producers and screenwriters, so most likely they had a lot of control over McTeag. I would venture to suggest that the meaning of the picture is mainly the merit of the brothers, while the director is most likely responsible for the visuals. In any case, Teague did a great job.
The explosions with fireworks to the music of Tchaikovsky are simply amazing. The same attribute of the fighting action, here they are executed beautifully and brightly (although V fights only three times).
Some moments are so brilliant that they are tempted to revisit over and over again. And there is style in everything. English style. The movie turned out to be exactly English, colorful and bright. Some moments delight with their beauty, and some frighten and terrify. For example, the scenes in the camp are very creepy.
But the "V" picture is not specific. Here, the deep dialogues of the characters and the disclosure of characters come to the fore. In some places, the picture even pulls towards the theatrical side. And it’s not hard to guess that acting is the most important factor in such a film.
Chancellor
They say John Hurt played a little hysterical and caricatured. In my opinion, no. Hurt showed a personality living in constant fear. The Chancellor is huddled in a hole, afraid that someone will make an attempt, afraid of losing power. He does not control the state well, can only use force, moreover, not in the required quantities. If it were not for such thinking personalities as Mr. Creedy, the power crumbled, and he himself hung on a lantern somewhere in London. Naturally, such a person will not be calm and balanced.
Mister creedy
Much more terrible person than the chancellor. He's just a fool, quickly making enemies for himself. Creedy plans everything in advance, he knows what to do in order to hold on to power. His terrible plans, even worse than the actions of the Chancellor himself. Tim Pigott-Smith played great. He created on the screen a gloomy and terrible image of a cruel and merciless person.
Inspector Finch
An honest policeman with a sad face forever. It is not easy for him. On the one hand, he has convictions according to which V should be punished, he always followed them. But also, as the case is investigated, he begins to doubt. He begins to realize that the government he is loyal to, served, is a group of assassins capable of the most horrible things. And closer to the end of events, he realizes that he will have to choose a side. Stephen Rea also did not disappoint, he created an honest, doubt-tortured image, and without unnecessary drama.
Dietrich
Something he has in common with V. Maybe he is poorly prepared physically, does not know how to handle weapons, but has strength of mind. He creates his own corner of freedom at home. And he is not afraid to openly spit in the face of the government.
Stephen Fry was faced with a difficult task. Show an outwardly cheerful, but dramatic character inside. He did it. As far as I know, Fry is a showman himself and it was not difficult for him to portray a cheerful person. But he was also able to show the serious sides of his hero.
Evie
She is not a doll, an ordinary girlfriend of heroes. She is not a superwoman, ready to immediately follow V. Evie is an ordinary person like you and me. From the very beginning, she does not believe in V's intentions and criticizes his actions. But then he overcomes himself, understands the whole point, and becomes a strong personality.
Portman played. It is immediately evident that the sweet girl from "Leon" has grown into a serious actress. She got the role with reincarnation, and she coped, creating a deep image on the screen. The moment of her rebirth in the rain looks wonderful, it is probably not so easy to play such a scene that would make you believe.
V
Main character. Personality without a past. One person ready to confront the system. His personality is controversial and leaves many questions.
The main thing for him is revenge? He takes revenge on everyone who destroyed his life, revenge mercilessly. But does Vendetta come first? Maybe at first this was his main goal, but then helping the people became the main one. Make people open their eyes so that no one else will repeat his fate.
What is more important for V. Implementation of your plan, or love? Is he ready to give up everything for Eevee? Or even love cannot shake his fortitude. There are answers to these and many other questions. You just have to sit down and think well after watching.
Hugo Weaving is incomparable. With a frozen face, he played the way, no matter how not one actor played, who used all his facial expressions.
His voice intonation, his plasticity, are graceful. They revived the mask! Maybe it's time for me to see a psychiatrist, but in some moments it seemed that the mask was sad, in some it had a serious expression, and somewhere, it smiled happily, as it should.
Weaving should have been given at least one award! Apparently all sorts of academics decided that an actor playing in a film based on comics cannot receive an award.
And the main thing. After the movie you start to think. In the picture, the dictator did not conquer power, the people themselves surrendered to him. I went to the slaughter myself.
V is not a revolutionary as many call him names, he does not make a coup, he only opens people's eyes.
V is not stupid and knows that he will kill the Chancellor, and another will take his place. That is why the hero is planning to blow up parliament.
Make a symbol. A symbol of insubordination. Freedom symbol. So that people wake up, open their eyes, stop hoping for a better future. We got up from the sofas and went to create this future ourselves.
The people should not be afraid of the government
The government must be afraid of the people.
How much sense in these words. People are afraid. They think that they are worthless, that those with automatic weapons are stronger. That those who are from above cannot be defeated.
Challenge V is to refute. In Evie's example, we see rebirth. She is afraid, thinks that she is weak, worthless, and our hero shows that this is not so. The common man can change the world. To do this, you need to overcome your fear. Ascend to the highest level as Dietrich, Finch, Evie, V.
And the events of the film take place in real life. Take a look around! The media have always lied, at the will of the government, people surrendered to the hands of dictators. The people submitted to force. Much of the picture has fully taken place and is taking place in reality. And from this it becomes scary. It's scary that this can happen again.
"V for Vendetta" must be watched. Do you think not? That the movie is not relevant? Are the times of totalitarianism gone and democracy is in the yard? Trust me. You are wrong…
