Having fallen in love with the new captain of the ski team Roy, Lane's girlfriend leaves him. The guy is greatly affected by this breakup and tries to commit suicide several times, fortunately, unsuccessfully. After a while he meets another - a French girl Monique, an exchange student. Monique is beautiful, and Lane falls in love with her. But soon there is a ski race in which he must participate and defeat Roy.

In the 1980s, there were so many incredibly funny comedies that even now you can continue to make discoveries by getting acquainted with lesser-known works of slightly lower quality or even from the very top. Even the presence of famous (later) actors did not help them much. But it's worth watching such a comedy, despite its certain shortcomings.

The main advantages are the eccentric humor and the ability of the film's authors to create the most fantastic scenes for the sake of laughter. That's how it should be done if a comedy wants to follow its concept; realism should not limit it in any way. The film's problems are more related to the excessive pedantry of constructing a semblance of a plot. All the nonsense related to skiing has almost no humorous effect. And it takes up quite a lot of screen time at the expense of jokes. This should not be the case; the comedy should always come first, and the plot should be subordinate to it, not the other way around. There is some benefit to these mountain skis; they set a certain style, the image of the main character, and trigger a sequence of events, but the payoff could have been better.

The other storylines, which are not the main ones, are more successful, but there are quite a few of them and their stretching provides a lot of comic material. There are stories about a boy postman, family relationships, neighbors with a French girl, school lessons, cars — there is a lot to see.

There is no need to exaggerate the film's shortcomings, but you do need to have a penchant for the particular type of humor presented here.
