Ip Man is an acknowledged kung fu master living in Foshan, a city famous for its martial arts schools. Ip Man practices Wing Chun and, although he is the strongest fighter in the city, he does not have his own school, and he does not take students. At home, he spends only light sparring with friends. Years pass, the warlike Japanese conquer China, and Ip Man turns out to be one of the few who, even in the most severe conditions of occupation, does not forget about the honor, dignity and, of course, the wisdom that kung fu carries.

But due to some circumstances, it so happened that both of these countries look at the art of fighting in different ways: one sees strength, the other - spirit. And in this film, like in no other that I have seen, this topic is not so amazingly discussed.

This is not the first picture about how the Chinese are underestimated, their style of martial arts, their strength. But, in my opinion, in it, for the first time, they reveal to us how deadly kung fu is. The film completely debunks the myths about martial arts as sparring, and shows us a completely different side: how to kill the enemy most effectively and quickly, disable the enemy. The real truth that we have not yet seen ...

In addition to all this, the film has something that you and I, friends, are deprived of. We don’t shoot that. And it's not at all about the picturesque battles. There are no heroes in our time. And about those that were, we have successfully forgotten a long time ago. This picture is about a man who has absorbed all the wisdom and nobility of China, a man who defended the honor of his homeland. And it is by no means a coincidence that he is a kung fu master.
