Small town in Nevada. During the breakup of a wedding brawl, young cop Valerie Young gets punched in the face by a visiting dude. Only he is determined behind bars in the local police station, as some drunkard almost crashes into the duty cops on a deserted road. They put him in another cell, and he ended up here for a reason. Soon, the once quiet police station will become the scene of a violent confrontation, and Valerie will have to make difficult decisions.

Joe Carnahan can definitely be called one of the most undeservedly underrated directors of modern cinema. Unfortunately, Carnahan failed to achieve universal recognition and success. However, almost every time Carnahan gives the audience at least an unusual and full of masculine content. "Good, bad, cop" was no exception to the rule.

The plot of this tape develops around police officer Valerie Young, who, deciding to stop the rout at a wedding brawl, is attacked by criminal Teddy Murretto. Without even suspecting that very soon the police station will be under siege and thugs armed to the teeth will come after Teddy's head.

Even at the production stage, the plot of the film "Good, Bad, Cop" very much resembled the plot of the cult "Attack on the 13th Precinct" by John Carpenter. However, Carnahan is what Carnahan is for, which is able to give maximum freshness to even the most hackneyed story. So in this case, the element of entertainment itself is strongly pushed into the background and third plan. Instead, making the maximum bet on "verbal battles", which not only fully reveal the characters of the main characters and contribute to their personal transformation, but also willingly entertain throughout the entire screen time.

We can safely say that when creating this tape, Joe Carnahan clearly drew inspiration from the tape “Trump Aces” that he created earlier. Structurally, the picture is made in the same spirit as the Trump Aces. Representing almost 80% of the picture in the genre of a conversational thriller, and only in the last 20% of screen time, it seems to fly off the coils and immerse the viewer in the very epicenter of the spectacle. However, if "Trump Aces" was more of an author's work, in this case we have something deliberately created in the spirit of the good old B-movies.

Definitely one of the main advantages of this tape is a luxurious cast. Gerard Butler created an extremely charismatic and insanely interesting killer on the screen, from the very sight of which it breathes madness. Frank Grillo was also pleasantly surprised, who in some century appeared on the screen in an extremely atypical and unusual role for himself, both in terms of character development and in terms of appearance. At the same time, similarly to Butler, he gave out a really strong acting game. Alexis Lorder did not lose her face either, although she was lost against the backdrop of such a bright acting duet. But also gave a really strong game. Including Toby Haas, who simply disappeared into the image of a cold-blooded and completely crazy mercenary.
