The very idea of ​​the film is amazing. “The Last Action Hero” is a story about a boy who, thanks to a magic ticket, is transferred to the other side of the screen and gets into a movie about the most invincible action hero Jack Slater (Arnold Schwarzenegger).

For me personally, it is completely incomprehensible why the film was so badly received not only by critics, but also by ordinary movie lovers. The authors clearly tried to laugh at the action genre so beloved by us, and besides, the main hero of these action films, Arnold Schwarzenegger, agreed to star in the film, thereby laughing with us at the genre and at his own image of the so-called "Action Hero" in particular ...

Before us is one world (unreal) when the action takes place on the other side of the screen. The creators of the picture in a humorous style show all the classic methods of action movies, here and a huge amount of shooting, explosions and, as a result, a lot of destruction, corrupt cops, the classic bomb method with a timer to count down to the explosion. This is a world where the main character can crush a walkie-talkie with his hand into small pieces and, knocking out the door with his foot, crush everyone and everything, while remaining alive and getting out of any alteration without a single scratch. Yes, this is a beautiful and sunny world where there are no ugly girls and in the police station you can meet Sharon Stone and (which made me especially happy) the T-1000 terminator (yes, that very liquid robot!).

And then the hero enters our world (real), where everything is for real. Where cars do not explode from being hit by a pistol, and it really hurts your hand when you break glass. A world where they can not only injure, but also kill.

No wonder the director, in order to enhance the effect of opposing the two worlds, shows the events taking place in the real world, mainly at night and in bad weather, and the action taking place in the cinema was transferred to sunny California.

The film actually makes a lot of sense, although most of it is shot in a comedic key. But, to be honest, I (as many people think) love the part of the film where the action takes place in the world of Jack Slater.

In short, a cool comedy action movie filmed at a very high level, like all films with Arnold.
