A group of young reporters travels to the wilds of the Amazon to make a sensational film about the last cannibalistic tribes left on Earth. Once there, where no European has ever been before, they disappear without a trace. A new expedition is sent in search of the missing, and they find the films made by their predecessors.

Review 4K Movie

I found out about "Cannibal Holocaust" not so long ago, and after reading the reviews, I decided not to watch it, because I am painfully sensitive to the excessively violent and overly realistic scenes. But the forbidden fruit is known to be sweet, so I couldn't go by - soon my computer was already sucking a file with the movie from the Internet. Now that the film has been watched it became apparent that all fears were in vain, because for a prepared audience (who is approximately aware of what they are about to see), everything is quite watchable, and if it shocks, it is not "intestinal" scenes. Which, by the way, there are not too many.

The film is shot in a pseudo-documentary manner and without any cuts (even if superficially) shows us the life and routines of cannibal tribes in the far away heat of Amazonia. An enlightened person is at least minimally familiar in theory with everything that happens on the screen, but it is better to see once than to hear a hundred times. But it can hardly be said that the viewer will be able to get something new for himself after the film except for seeing with his own eyes some moments of "cannibalism in action" and a couple of results of brutal customs in all their glory. In a word, almost like the Discovery Channel, only better, because almost "uncensored.

Cannibals themselves, even if their behavior causes slight squeamishness, but we cannot get away from the fact that they are a people with their centuries-old "laws" and "culture", they have not lived otherwise and can hardly live any other way, and eating their own kind is as self-evident to them as eating pork or chicken is to us. Hence, nothing that happens on the screen causes a shock in this respect, because the life of wild tribes is shown to us in many other films, and eating human flesh, though in some moments it is shown unvarnished, but it does not go beyond certain limits, and even the most neurotic individuals are unlikely to faint.

The film's most painful impact comes in another way. All that limits us in the civilized world are laws. But the people who set foot in territory where the law that restrains them in their habitual surroundings does not apply, and who have a superior force in the form of firearms that gives them power, show their true snout. Shocking are the "civilized" Europeans who smell impunity. Their addiction to human flesh is merely child's play compared to their frozen cruelty. These "four brave ones" make an ambitious attempt to enter the very lair of cannibals, torturing animals, raping women, burning dozens of people alive, saying "how beautiful!", and generally causing disgust by their behavior and nothing more.

The "amateur camera effect" already mentioned more than once in the reviews, designed to provide a feeling of more naturalism and even more shocking, I could not perceive it adequately - I noted only the poor quality of the video and nothing more.
