Story Movie

Fate has thrown the rich, wayward beauty Rafaela and the poor communist Gennarino onto a deserted island. There's not a soul around for miles. Somewhere far away there was a luxurious yacht, on which Rafaela and her friends and husband rested, and the sailor worked in the sweat of his brow, silently enduring the whims of the exploiters. Now he had the perfect opportunity to get even for all the humiliation. But from class hatred to passionate love, as we know, is not very far.

Review 4K Movie

A rich, boastful, arrogant bitch for whom there is only her opinion and no one else's during a pleasure trip on a yacht on the Mediterranean Sea seems ready to tire everyone and everything. Her buddies - unrestrained coddling on social and political topics, the service staff - endless nagging on and off. All this is perceived quite amusing and sets up for an entertaining development of further events, but the director (Lina Wertmüller) obviously having decided that there is little good, the rest of the movie, almost to the very end, is devoted to finding out `what if...'. To this end, by the will of fate, a young, all pissed off senora and, having been bullied by her, a Sicilian sailor from the very bottom, find themselves on a tiny deserted island, cut off from all civilization. There is no politics, no socialization, no class distinctions, no public opinion..... Just him and her alone with nature.

It is this, the most significant part of the movie that looks the least appealing. Almost immediately you begin to think that the end would be sooner, as the movie too clearly starts to turn from an expected comedy into a psychological and research farce, and of a rather controversial nature.

The sailor, having turned out to be the master of the situation and having decided to get even to the fullest, demands special respectful signs of attention. Well, it is a common enough case when a man from the lowest strata, having made his way to the top, and not as a result of any special efforts on his part, but by chance, begins to barbarize even more disgustingly than his former masters. This is what we call “from the dirt to the princes”. She, at first, continues to build herself a fiff, but - hunger is not a lady, slowly comes to terms with the position of a slave and moreover begins to get into the taste.

Time goes by and between our heroes, despite the roles assigned to them, begins to flare up not forced-coerced-coerced, but the very real love. But this does not make it any easier for the viewer. There is no revival in the movie narration. Yes, and love, by and large, is still under the sign of `master-slave`.

Finally, here it is - the long-awaited salvation. True, the couple in love do not feel much joy about it. The return to normal life threatens the inevitable manifestation in practice of the classical postulate that it is impossible to live in society and be free from society. Separation is inevitable. There are things objective, which by many threads determine our behavior in everyday life. And if the poor sailor is still ready to burn bridges behind her, she is unable to cross the invisible line.

Will they remember the time spent on the island with special trepidation. Most likely yes. The exoticism, the strangeness, the piquancy of the situation... These factors multiplied by irrepressible passion will certainly be a bright milestone of life's journey. But only this love story is played in such a way that it does not evoke a sympathetic response from the audience and makes you lose guesses about the director's ultimate goal.
