A family with two children heads to Big Rock National Park for a vacation, located near Benjamin Lockwood’s estate—the very place where dinosaurs were released a year ago during a botched auction. The family is having dinner in their RV when they spot a female herbivorous Nasutoceratops with her young nearby. Soon, they are attacked by a predatory Allosaurus.

Ahead of the *Jurassic World* trilogy finale, director Colin Trevorrow made a short film about a trailer park to show, even if only briefly, that dinosaurs now live alongside humans. In reality, the scale of the tragedy in “Fallen Kingdom” knows no bounds, but while the finale of the second “Jurassic World” showed only the beginning—without limits or barriers—the short film opens with global news.

We see, albeit on a chart, how quickly dinosaurs have overrun every continent. There were far fewer of them at Lockwood’s mansion. Or are these the remnants from Nublar Island in Costa Rica? Nevertheless, we’ve known about reproduction and the ability to change gender thanks to geneticists since the days of the first “Park.” And how do humans and dinosaurs coexist on the planet?

A few quick shots show everyday events and places people usually visit, only this time dinosaurs accidentally end up in the frame. Honestly, I want more of this kind of action on screen. You’ve set the dinosaurs free; they aren’t confined by an enclosure, an island, or a basement lab—they can go wherever they want. That’s exactly what the director showed us.

The scene at the campground demonstrates just how dangerous it is to encounter visitors from the Jurassic period. A family on vacation witnesses the curiosity of triceratops that have come out into the open in search of food. It’s dangerous and terrifying. Now we are not the main characters of the saga, solving problems with weapons and technology, but a simple family with many children who have gone on vacation. The plot perfectly portrays people as spectators until they become the focus of attention. The triceratops attract other guests to add suspense to this story.

“Battle at Big Rock” shows the ordinary world disrupted by a breach in evolution. In fact, the story is interesting because the prequel “Jurassic World: Dominion” immediately sets off global consequences, sending the heroes to solve problems at the epicenter of disaster, while here we have a side story. It’s what happens every day on every patch of land with all of nature. Survival of the fittest.

It would be great to make short films like this that expand on the story.
