Elizabeth Banks' film Charlie's Angels was originally riveted a lot of attention. Feminist desires, not the most successful moments of the PR campaign and, perhaps, not the most successful trailer. The film was smashed to smithereens by various critics, but in my opinion the new angels are not as bad as they seem. For certain reasons, I defended the film.

Firstly, if we discard the bias towards both feminism and Kristen Stewart, then the character design is not so bad. Of course, the girls lack chemistry, there is a rivalry between the heroines of Stuart and Balinsk, but still they are not devoid of charm and charisma, despite the lack of big names in the title credits. And the main characters here are still not mega-cool girls with pathos quotes like Mila Jovovich in "Resident Evil" or Angelina Jolie in "Tomb Raider". Girls periodically mow, rake away from the villains, they do not easily and simply get victories over the enemy (with the exception of perhaps the opening part of the film). The heroine Naomi Scott is generally represented by a fragile, naive girl who survives only through luck.

Secondly, the plot, which was criticized for predictability and simplicity, is quite typical for such a genre. It is unlikely that anyone began to watch a realistic serious drama about spies, such films are done to turn off the brain and enjoy the sight. In addition to the pretty girls, here we see the beautiful landscapes of cities, panoramic shots and objects.

The main drawback of the film is too much bias towards feminism, male characters are mostly villains and chauvinists. But I would not say that this was often shown in the film, on the contrary, the scriptwriters initially tried to mislead the viewer and hide the main antagonist.

A little walk through the characters. A lot of criticism fell on Kristen Stewart, but in my opinion she, like her partner in Twilight Robert Pattison, made an attempt to drop out of the cliche. Here she is represented by a kind of “little girl” like the heroine Drew Barrymore from the Angels 2000. I would not call her game as bad as many critics - it was rather influenced by the legacy of her previous roles. There are no complaints about Naomi Scott - this is so far a young actress starting her journey and her character may have corresponded to the actress herself - a fragile girl who entered into dangerous corporate intrigues. Ella Basinski probably liked even more than other angels, her character seemed to me the hardest and most motivated, and at the same time oddly sweetest (perhaps her smile is to blame). Of the antagonists, I would like to single out Jonathan Tucker - the former charm from the excellent comedy “100 Girls and One in the Elevator” here turns into a cruel mercenary, an analogue of the Skinny killer from angels of the 2000s. And by the way, it was nice to see here and the angels of the 2000s themselves (who have been ironized over the image of Bosley) and the actresses from the series.
