Mysterious secrets, ancient legends, amazing discoveries, noteworthy villains, dazzling beauties ... What the cartographer Jonathan Green did not meet on his way. He was more than once surprised, frightened and wanted to kill, but he withstood everything. Now his road lies to China, and there he will also have something to reveal and whom to expose.

The trailer preceding the release of the film promised potential viewers a sea of ​​computer and high-quality special effects. It must be said that this time the PR men did not deceive us. Especially worth highlighting is the episode of the duel between the heroes Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan, as well as the appearance of the "Chinese Wii". Maybe for some, some of the details look a little damp, but in general they make a very strong impression.

Special thanks should be said for the work with the decorations. Naturally, we understand that it was not without the "chromakey", but looking at all these outlandish Asian and European beauties, one immediately recalls the numerous museum exhibits that are in every self-respecting town that claims to be a tourist attraction.

If earlier you only imagined how this or that antique object was used for its intended purpose, now you have every chance to see this invention in action. As it is already clear, the cast will delight the viewer with an abundance of faces known from Hollywood, Russian and Chinese cinema. It's nice to see such an international synthesis in our cinema. We are growing qualitatively, gentlemen!

The British, oddly enough, are still played by the British. The role of Lord Dudley, entrusted to Charles Dance ("Game of Thrones"), is no longer as episodic as in the first film, and James Fleming, who had the honor to play the main character again, continued his image of enlightened Protestant England, who found himself in the culture of a foreign people. The image was a success for the Briton, if not excellent, then a solid four.

And, of course, my beloved Rutger Hauer appears here, playing the charismatic British ambassador. It remains only to regret that the master himself did not live to see the release of the film.

If in the first part the creator successfully tested the 3D format, then here too they prepared a pleasant surprise for us - IMAX. The operators tried their best in moments associated with the appearance of all mysticism, action scenes of chases, shootings and hand-to-hand combat. It will be possible to see everything - especially on IMAX screens, this format justifies itself here in full.

To summarize, we have before us a very solid creation in the genre of dark fantasy - this time from a domestic manufacturer. Nevertheless, there is every reason to assert that our blockbuster was a success, if not on a solid "five", then, five with a minus, it can definitely be put - in advance, so to speak.
