Independence Day 4K 1996 EXTENDED Ultra HD 2160p
A signal is received on Earth, sent by a source of clearly extraterrestrial origin. This source approaches, and the entire planet is alerted. No one, however, expected that the aliens would be so huge and in such numbers.

Review 4K Movie

Probably, if I watched this movie for the first time now, I would hardly get off the toilet. From the 'magnitude of years gone by', after dozens, maybe hundreds, of films, I would not only not be impressed with 'Independence Day', but would be deeply disappointed.

And really, what is there so besides the wonderful acting of Jeff Goldbdum (especially when drunk), Will Smith (especially when always), a couple of pretty good special effects and moral glee at the sight of the destruction of the American capital? Nothing. But there's an explanation for that:

1) The movie is made for an American and for an American. The whole basin of pathetics, which permeates the film, is aimed only at him. We, the Russian audience, when hearing the sound of pathos from the glory of the White House, Independence and the Great Hamburger, to put it mildly, it becomes uncomfortable. I don't know what happens to the average American, but I don't think he or she gets an angry look on his or her face at this point.

(If you watch 'The Patriot' right after 'Day...' you can immediately see Roladn's passion for praising the country that gave him the opportunity to make his great films.)

2) The film does not claim to be authentic or anything else. In fact, only those works that promise this to the viewer are worthy of criticism from this point of view. We must not forget that movies are movies, not real life. And that cinema is not made by robots, but by people who not only make mistakes and blunders unintentionally, but sometimes do so with premeditation.

If you take both of these factors into account and remove the Russian component and the boring component from your analysis and objective evaluation, you can see me, a toddler, when I was still seven years old, watching with my mouth open a video tape borrowed from my neighbor, on which there were two words written: 'Independence Day'. I was not a nerd, I didn't feel Russian (everyone has problems with that at age seven), my head was not clogged with politics and other worldly hardships. My eyes were clear and uncluttered, my brain absorbed like a sponge and I got goosebumps from the spectacle of the American people fighting the alien invaders. Laughing at Smith's now unfunny jokes, furtively wiping away tears over the deaths of heroes. I rejoice in the Victory.

If you watch it that way, the film is a masterpiece, a film for all time. And that's the only way to watch it.
