After a short break and a couple of unsuccessful pictures, Disney again enters the ring with another project. This time, the famous studio decides not to go for broke, and resort to what once bore fruit, and thus, after eight years of waiting before the audience appears “Moana 2”, continuing the story of a brave Polynesian girl and her adventures in the vast expanse of water.

Moana has become older and wiser, and therefore her knowledge and experience were certainly appreciated at face value, as a result of which the young leader will have to become a true leader of her tribe, but before she is waiting for another very difficult task, much more dangerous and distant, the stakes are too high and only on her all hope. Moana is literally a living legend within the island, and therefore many will follow her, but only the best, or rather the most useful representatives of her community will be allowed to travel.

In general, speaking about the plot, we can say that the story is repeated in exactly the same way as it happened in the first part of the animation, literally from the moment of realizing the importance of a new voyage and then smoothly approaching its logical conclusion. Distinctive features of the sequel can be considered, firstly, the appearance of Moana's sister, Simea, which can be quite clearly understood from the trailer, and secondly, the weak participation of Maui in the maelstrom of events. However, if the introduction of little Simea can be considered a rather cute move with a bet on kindness and spontaneity, although it does not bring obvious meaning to the plot, then the apparent reduction of Maui's role does not benefit the sequel at all, because it is the interaction of this character with Moana - the pillar on which the story was kept, and therefore it is curious why Maui so ruthlessly sent “demigod” in an unknown direction. It is quite clear from the title of the picture that this is the story of Moana from and to, and it is her heroine remains the most revealed and has a clear growth in comparison with the prequel, but as for the rest of the characters - this time they came out much more formulaic statisticians, and both the actors and their protagonists.

The plot of “Moana 2” is quite sweet and touching, but somehow it's completely raw, the characters are not finalized, you don't get attached to them and empathize with them, and the insane desire of the screenwriters to sit on two chairs, and leave a deposit for the third one in case they have to improvise and continue to squeeze the maximum out of the story in the not too distant future, darkens everything even more. At least it made sense to invite the maestro - Lin-Manuel Miranda, as it is Lin “people should say: ‘Thank you!’” for the beautiful and amazing compositions for the animated film, which do not come out of your head and which are ready to sing along at any moment. I'm afraid that “Moana 2” only parasitizes on the successful creations of Miranda and does not have a single composition worth remembering, which in turn in times lowers the bar and creates a sense of screaming despair of all this already shaky construction. “Moana” - this is also a musical, and clumsy attempts to wedge a little poetry into the prose, so even and generously seasoned with a familiar soundtrack, at times more than frustrate their genre.

“Moana 2” leaves behind twofold impressions: on the one hand, animation, as before, trying to bring light, overcome obstacles, believe in yourself and your loved ones, but on the other - in every endeavor unwittingly slips pure water commercialism, and even despite its background, by the end of viewing the story looks more and more like a pretend disposable picture, and this can not help but disappoint.
