Review 4K Movie

After watching 'Mufasa: The Lion King' I was left with not just a pleasant impression, but rather a feeling as if I had been to a royal banquet for the eyes and soul. This is not just a 'prequel for a change', but a full-fledged story that not only fits in seamlessly, but sits proudly on the throne in the world of 'The Lion King'. I was amazed at how deep the creators dug to show us Mufasa not just as 'Simba's dad', but as a person with his own history, ups and downs. The guy went from a 'lion cub no-name' to a 'king-baby', and it's a pleasure to watch.

One of the main trump cards of the movie, without a doubt, is the picture. The animation here is such that it seems that you are about to reach out and stroke Mufasa's perfectly drawn mane. Though, perhaps, it is better not to do it - after all, it is a wild animal. Savannah landscapes are so picturesque that you want to drop everything and rush to Africa to take selfies against the sunset. This is not a cartoon, but a natural National Geographic, only with lions that also talk.

The musical accompaniment is a separate song (literally!). Lin-Manuel Miranda did his best, and his soundtrack is not just an accompaniment to the action, but takes the soul and squeezes out tears of joy and sadness at the right moments. The songs are so catchy that you walk and hum them under your nose, even if you are a lion by horoscope and you are supposed to growl, not sing.

The plot about Mufasa's formation is not a bedtime story about 'they lived happily ever after'. Here everything is grown-up: difficulties, obstacles, and the formation of character under the pressure of circumstances. It is especially interesting to watch the relationship between young Mufasa and his brother, Taka, the future Scar. That's where the drama boils over! You can see that envy is a contagious thing, even among lions. The story doesn't just retell the familiar moments, but digs deeper, trying to understand why the characters acted the way they did and not the other way around.

Even though it's a prequel, and the ending is basically known, the movie still keeps you in suspense. It's interesting to watch the younger versions of familiar characters and think, 'Aha, that's where the legs are growing from!' It feels that the original was treated with love and respect, but they were not afraid to add their own colors and nuances.

Perhaps, for some people the plot will seem predictable because it is a prehistory of a well-known fairy tale, but, in my opinion, the emphasis here is not on unexpected twists and turns, but on the emotional component and on revealing characters. And with this the movie copes perfectly.

To summarize, 'Mufasa: The Lion King' is not just a prequel, it's a true visual triumph with heart and soul! I'm sure this movie will appeal to both those who grew up on 'The Lion King' and those who are just discovering this magical world. A story of courage, honor and becoming a great leader, told with such skill, deserves everyone's attention.
