In terms of new premieres, 2020 brought a lot of frustration - many of the expected films were postponed, and cinemas were closed ... But at the end of the year, one of the films that was on the list of expected was released - and at one time I did not even hope that his removed. This is the sequel to Dreamworks' 2013 hit - The Croods: Housewarming. And I went not so much for the sake of the cartoon, but because of the desire to watch a movie on the big screen - I really missed the atmosphere of the cinema this year!

The Croods cavemen got out of the cave and went in search of a new home. This path full of deadly dangers leads the family to a place surrounded by a high wall, behind which is a real paradise: fresh air, clean water, no predators and a lot of food! True, the Betterman family lives in this corner of paradise, who wear shoes, fashionable (by the standards of that time) clothes, cook food, equip their homes and look more evolved than the Croods. Tensions arise between families: starting with the disdainful attitude of the highly developed Bettermans to the rustic Croods, which translates into the Bettermans' plans to bring Maly with their daughter Zarya, and then escort their cave guests behind the wall ...

I never expected to see a sequel to that funny cartoon - after all, so many changes have happened with the Dreamworks company. I even read somewhere that the sequel was canceled. And now the premiere of Novoselya was a pleasant surprise - it was impossible to pass by. In addition, on the big screen, you can fully enjoy the progress of computer animation, see the small details of the house, the villi of the characters' clothes and drops of sweat - everything has become even more realistic. And a riot of colors - here you just admire and enjoy the green forests, the crimson sunset, the variety of local flora and the incredible fauna ...

As for the plot - this is the main plus and minus of the film. The downside is that sometimes it seems that there are too many topics to think about. But, each of these topics is real and relevant. There is also a conflict between fathers and children, when it is not easy for the older generation to let their beloved offspring live separately; and social levels, when those who are better off than others often look down on people of lower status; and the problems of overprotection, when parents are too protective of their children from danger; and problems in young people's relationships, especially in relations between people of different statuses; and addiction to gadgets; and finally, feminism (which personally seemed to me even superfluous). But all this is presented with humor and funny moments, which was very funny to watch.

The Croods are returning with their entire cast, and now they have to interact with another family, which makes them more interesting and funnier. Grug is the father of the family, the main hunter and strongman who dreams of trying bananas, looks suspiciously at the Bettermans and adheres to the rule that the family should stick together; Ugga is the mother of the family, always caring and understanding, but does not tolerate indulgence and is ready to defend the interests of her tribe; Gip is a lively and cheerful girl with a lot of scars, who dreams of a joint future with her beloved boyfriend, but is also crazy about the fact that she has a bosom friend with whom you can chat, squeal and ride a cat without the parents' demand; Tunc is a typical teenager with a pet, but who has discovered the charm of the "window" and does not want to do anything else (familiar situation with modern children ...); Fighting baby Sandy and no less fighting Granny, who reveals unusual details of her warlike past; Small is the newest member of the family, tired of the Croods' cave and dreaming of living together with Hyp (outside the family), but civilized life in Bettermans seems very tempting ...

The newcomers Bettermans give an interesting contrast: Phill and Nadia (aka Hope) Bettermans and their daughter Zarya (aka Don) - translated as "The best people" - know how to do much more Croods: they invent better, and cook, and sew clothes, and making slippers and styling their hair. But they are not without drawbacks: a condescending, even arrogant attitude towards recruits, some manipulations and insidious plans, as well as excessive custody of a daughter who wants to know the world. However, a couple of days spent with the Croods will completely change them all! I will also note the voice acting from Pavel Volya and Laysan Utyasheva - it turned out great!

When most of the expected premieres have been postponed a year in advance, you especially appreciate those films that still make it to the theaters. And I'm incredibly glad that I managed to go to the movies, besides, to such a funny cartoon - The Croods. Children will definitely be delighted with it, and adults will not only laugh, but also think about some points. It was fun and educational.
