Every child should have a friend. A real pet, not some kind of pet. Such a best friend can be a wonderful robot that can move, speak, but most importantly, it is connected to the Internet and helps its owner to publish on social networks and learn about all the latest trends, keep in touch with classmates and keep abreast of events. All schoolchildren have such, except for the shy Barney, who because of this feels like a stranger among his peers - until he receives a long-awaited gift for his birthday. But a robot named Ron turned out to be defective, and his young owner decides to independently teach him everything he knows himself.

«20th Century Studios» has released Locksmith Animation's debut project, The Incorrigible Ron. Not to say that a direct competitor of the animation giants has appeared on the market, but the studio did not fall into the dirt with the first step.

Cartoon "Incorrigible Ron" is a sweet, kind and pleasant cartoon that speaks to the viewer in an absolutely simple and understandable language. It is not as large-scale and colorful as the Disney projects (although 20th Century Studios belongs to them), and not as thoughtful and innovative as the Pixar cartoons (although they are also part of Disney), but that's it. it stands a little to the side inside this huge "mouse corporation".

The plot of the cartoon is pretty simple. Apparently the action of the cartoon takes place in the near future, where a large corporation of gadgets "Bubble" (read "Apple") presents to the world its new creation - Bubble bots, which, according to the idea, should help children learn the world and easily find friends. B-bots scan the interests of their owners in a matter of seconds, adapt to them and help to find new acquaintances around the world. They are phones, TVs, social networks, and just friends with a unique design that matches the individual user. All children instantly fall in love with them and B-bots become an integral part of their lives. Only a guy named Barney's family cannot afford to buy him a B-bot, so he has no friends. He is lonely. Nobody came to the birthday party, because now nobody reads paper invitations. They don't talk to him at school, but he really wants to find a friend. Barney's weird family understands with grief in half that it is really important for a child to give this gadget, but only that it had to be done by pre-order and still have to wait 3 months. Grandmother and father get out of the situation and with all their savings buy Barney a robot literally around the corner of the building. Only now the new friend turns out to be a little different from the others.

The cartoon conducts dialogue mainly with children. The adult audience is not as interesting to him as we are used to lately. Of course, there is also something for adults, but the project has certain problems with this. As if the creators do not know how to start a conversation and which side to approach. The cartoon really wants to be acutely social, but he does not always succeed.

He first brings up the topic of life in technology. It seems that adults while watching should only strengthen their arguments about the harm of computers. They say, yes, children don’t sit in gadgets all their lives, otherwise you will think that owls are scary clowns whose heads are spinning. No, it is clear that you should not spend your whole life buried in the screen, but you should not deny progress either. At first, in the cartoon, they say that robots have the ability to tell children everything in general, but then it turns out that children are not at all interested in this. To prove this, it is said that there are only 3 subscribers in the "Science" section, and hundreds of children follow the blogger's life. The studio seems to be unable to grope for the necessary compromise on this issue.

The second thought is spying on all users with the help of B-bots. Honestly, in modern society the topic is quite serious and relevant. The antagonist in the cartoon is a typical greedy capitalist who, for the sake of profit and growth in stocks, is ready to neglect all the personal data of users. He only cares about his own profit, and he generally hates children, although the creator of the B-bots invented them in order to make it easier to find friends and he is not so interested in profit. The eternal conflict between the benefits of technology and their dangers. Only in "Incorrigible Ron" this problem is solved in a childish way and eventually comes to naught. As a result, there is almost no conversation on this important topic. It is as if we are being presented with a fact. Yes, you can be watched by bad uncles, but bad uncles always get what they deserve, because there is a kind guy who will not let these bad uncles do this to you.

The third and fourth point is friendship. And, looking ahead, the creators coped with these points very well. "Incorrigible Ron" talks to viewers about peer-to-peer friendships and family friendships. These topics are covered much better than the first two. The cartoon shows us that it is worth making friends not only according to the interests that the robots have found. Opposites can and love to attract. Each of us is individual, therefore friendship is something more than common interests and, sometimes, it is impossible to understand on what principle people came together and became inseparable. And most importantly, friendship is a reciprocal process. Family relationships are also a very important topic. Children should not distance themselves from their parents, and parents should not forget about their children. You need to talk, try to understand each other, look for common ground, no matter how different and busy you are. You need to be not only relatives, but also friends. This is an important and necessary conversation with the audience.

The animation in the cartoon is quite good, but it is unlikely that someone will remember it very much and will be able to compete with Disney and Pixar, but there is no arguing with the fact that it is of high quality. A little unclear with the time of action. On the one hand, this seems to be a new generation of children with already new technologies, but most of them with interests from zero. Many people love the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars, which is more typical of our generation, although it may be so popular in the future, who knows?

In general, "Incorrigible Ron" can be attributed to successful projects, which fits very well into the autumn atmosphere, but, most likely, as "one time". He knows how to evoke the right feelings and emotions at a certain moment. You can laugh and cry for watching. There are a lot of touching and funny moments in the film, which means that you will hardly have to get bored. And Ron himself is a very charming character. You will have the warmest feelings for him, despite the fact that he is a robot. This cartoon is ideal for watching with a child or with the family. You don't strain too much and just enjoy the kind and cozy atmosphere.

However, it will be interesting to watch the newly minted animation studio, because it is difficult to stay afloat when you have such giants in your competitors. If with the first project you can forgive all the ugliness, close your eyes to some shortcomings and call the project mostly successful, then no one will forgive such mistakes in the future.
