Perhaps one could say that parody as a genre is harder than comedy. Because internally it is always serious. In parody, moreover, nothing is equal to itself, but denotes something else. At the same time, parody is produced, as a rule, by a sense of satiety, or rather, by a sense of nausea from satiety, by a sense of a severely poisoned mind caught up in someone else's feast. This is why parody is always and a little bit evil.

This 'heavy' character, the inherent contradiction of parody, is often perceived by the viewer as a defect, as an ugliness - especially if the viewer lacks the 'key' to decipher the sarcastic code, the instrument to separate the essentially funny from the shell, from the packaging of the author's fundamentally free and at times quite complex associations.

But even if the viewer has this key, he must still be as funny as the author. The spectator must experience the same light intellectual nausea that one wishes to free himself or herself from through the statement, through the feeling of compassion he or she has encountered. - And here the parody loses another part of understanding, another class of viewers.

Thus, to most viewers, the parody seems either gibberish or an insult. To the minority left with the parody, however, it brings real pleasure. Here we can recall the fate of 'The Inspector General', 'Don Quixote' or 'Ulysses'.

Operation Mutant Operation is a parody. Vivid and clever, - especially for those who are not irritated and do not tire of the grotesque. Clichéd 'westerns', 'space adventures', 'gangster sagas' are parodied. Here and there this special, frivolous, childishly simple comic book atmosphere is recreated. But all this is just a service, auxiliary 'wrappers' for a certain philosophical message of the author.

Perhaps every creative person at least once felt like a freak - abnormal among the normal. Maybe this is about these very mutants and made a film. After all, if you look closely, there are shades of abnormality among creative people, too: some are only interested in their 'I'; some are so much higher and stronger than others that they do not notice how rude they are; some are simply unable to do anything without the help of artificial means; some are only interested in money. - One can assume that the author sees many such 'creative freaks' among the filmmakers who have long been 'terrorizing' the world of normal people with their creative egoism with impunity.

The world is degenerating, it is clear, at least to the director. But it is also clear that degeneration already contains the seed of future and inevitable renewal. What is it, where, who is closer to it? - The symbolic answer at the end of the film is classic.
