Story Movie

17-year-old Amy Blue, her boyfriend Jordan White, and supernaturally sexy drifter Xavier Red are forced to go on a "road trip" after Xavier blows the head off a supermarket clerk. But why are they now accompanied everywhere by the numbers 666?
Why is it that every time they stop to eat a hamburger and drink a Coke, someone near them is sure to die a horribly violent death? And why does their journey feel more and more like an unstoppable rampage of nightmarish violence and dizzying sex?

Review 4K Movie

Unfortunately or fortunately, I'm not a gamer, I can't draw any parallels to the game of the same name, but I think the reference is something like violence, violence and violence. Although it might have seemed violent only in 1995. Now only very pristine viewers would call this movie violent, empty or pathetic, but at the same time to some extent it is.

This movie can't be violent for the reason that it is pure thrash, and the talking severed head looks more like a joke than a severed head. What we have in front of us is a stereotypical movie that mocks cruelty, violence, and sex. In combination, I would say that this movie is about a generation - yes, but it is a parody of both itself and the so-called generation.

Doom translates from English as 'doomed'. If Gregg Araki meant to say that a generation is doomed to something, then his logic is not very clear to me. Any generation is doomed a priori, and if you live with slogans like 'Die now, live later', then naturally you are doomed to die.

James Duvall's character (the director's favorite actor), Jordan, asks the question 'Have you ever wondered about the meaning of our existence?' a couple of times. Many interpretations of this movie are tied to that phrase, and the movie is certainly designed to let us draw out the idea ourselves. To talk about alienation as the key problem of this movie and this generation is silly. Ever since the hippies, everything has been tied to alienation. Destruction, self-destruction, decay - yes, but there is no problem of a particular generation here, there is a problem of a generation as such.

The only thing I would highlight is the emphasis on the lack of meaning and yet lack of life goals, ideals and morals. Therefore, neither murder, nor treason, nor anything else is meaningful. And so the movie is more a variant of 'black film sarcasm' than 'drama.

'We're accessories to two murders, and you act like nothing happened'. This 'as if nothing happened' is the main mood of the movie. The characters are fleeing from possible prosecution and eventual imprisonment, but the reason, the goals, and the very meaning of escape are blurred, as if there is nothing at all.

Fans of industrial will be pleased with the soundtrack and the guys from Skinny Puppy.

This movie is a part of 'The Teenage Apocalypse Trilogy', which besides 'Generation Doom' includes 'Full P' and 'Nowhere'.
