Xenia, Ohio - a small provincial town of "one-story America", in the mid-seventies, covered by a powerful tornado, and never recovered from it either economically or in any other sense. People live in it, they have children... who have nothing to do but fight the daily boredom of a monotonous life. And, it must be said, their ways of struggle do not shine with variety, as well as the whole life of this town and the people who inhabit it....

Some people go crazy when they lose a loved one. What would happen to them if all their relatives died in front of their eyes, if a neighbor's head was blown off, if their children were killed at school, what would happen if, when everything subsided, they found a dead cat on their porch or someone's arm torn off on their bed?

The whole movie is a scream of despair. And the scene with the broken chair is the loudest.

Gross, you say? They're dead people with a broken value system, who, on top of everything else, have been abandoned at the worst possible moment. Why mess with shit like this? Why get your hands dirty in a city of schizophrenics? Let's just kill them things so they don't bother us. That's all we gotta do.

We feel sorry for the cats, not the humans. We want to save cats, not people. In fact, we want to kill people for killing cats. Maybe that's what they're trying to do.

Don't you feel any pity? So much for shock therapy.
