A single mother with two teenage children, Trevor and Phoebe, settles on an old farm in Oklahoma, inherited from her father, who abandoned her as a child. The woman counted on at least some money, but received only debts from her father. However, an inquisitive Phoebe discovers strange devices created by her grandfather and his laboratory in the house, and Trevor finds the Ecto-1 car, which belonged to the popular Ghostbusters in the 1980s.

In short, it was like this. A single mother living with two children in a rented apartment in a big city, the owner of the living space calmly throws out into the street for non-payment. And so they get into the car and roll somewhere in Ohlahoma, in the very rural wilderness, in the very heart of America. The heart of darkness where the unfortunate rednecks vote for Trump... Oops! In short, a town in the middle of nowhere. Where, perhaps, Jack Reacher would accidentally hitchhike past. But people live here, and live well. And on the outskirts there is a cursed old house. I mean, a practically perfect old haunted house. And then there are the ghosts...

The film, directed by Jason Reitman (son of the legendary Ivan Reitman, director of the original Ghostbusters), begins in much the same way as his distant ancestor - almost a natural horror movie (yes, remember how you watched this film on videotape for the first time at night!) . And then a mother (a good role of Carrie Coon) comes to town with the kids. And this is where it started...

The local teacher and scientist are funny at the same time (Paul Rudd). Local kids are alive and interesting. You take them well. But those who came in large numbers ... Well, I don’t know. Personally, I was not particularly impressed by a smart girl with glasses. Although she is still quite a nerd.

What is there to say. The first hour of the film is mostly rocking. Bursts of paranormal activity alternate with long sleepy lines. But later!

Fan service and nostalgia. Everything seems to be specially for those who at the time adored those two great films (and the animated series too!) About ghostbusters! In some ways, this picture is even a little reboot of the first film. Shot with maximum respect for him (in contrast to P. Fig's stupid hack-work, by the way).

The soundtrack is decent. The same tune is there.

Machine "Ecto-1" - also available! And even the old guard will be here too (alas, but advertising promotional materials leaked all this long before the premiere. Such is our world of advertisers with ectoplasm instead of a brain).

This movie isn't perfect. Children, unlike adult actors, do not always pull out. And too often they are lucky. But what is only a demon enthusiastically devouring dog food in a supermarket! And the car rushing with the howling of that very siren!

Summary: Unlike so many recent reboots (yes, Kevin Smith, you should be very, very ashamed now!) The film turned out to be quite worthy. Nostalgia and almost a time machine in the cinema. Worn, battered and scratched. But still quite nimble.

Funny and good all the same turned out to be a kintso!
