A certain Massoulier is shot dead in unexplained circumstances during a hunting trip. Suspicion falls on another hunter - a Parisian realtor Julien Versel, especially since the rare type of shot in his cartridges matches the shot found in the victim's body, and Versel's wife turns out to be the mistress of the murdered man.

Confidentially Yours! The title of François Truffaut's movie completely coincided with the lazy thoughts that were swarming in my head during the whole working day. This movie opus also has a second title - “Fun Sunday”. However, the curious viewer can be convinced that Sunday will be not cheerful at all at the first minutes of the cinematographic action. When there will be a close-up shot from a hunting rifle right in the face of the unfortunate victim. According to my calculations during the movie there will be four more corpses with signs of violent death. And for dessert one act of suicide, seasoned with a long monologue of a demonic maniac into a telephone receiver.

In short, the movie is a must-see. Especially if you are an ardent fan of François Truffaut and... Alfred Hitchcock. Actually, Truffaut's last movie thoroughly reproduces “Hitch's method”. Probably, there was no such a devoted fan of the author of “Psycho” in the world cinematography from the director's shop, which was Truffaut. And the film “Confidentially Yours”, made in black and white color scheme, direct proof of this.

Detective plot, witty dialogues and trademark Hitchcockian suspense are just off the charts here. As in Hitch, Truffaut's movie shows an ordinary citizen, drawn by fate into various worldly troubles of a criminal nature, in which he alone can not understand. In my opinion, “Confidentially Yours” is partly reminiscent of Hitchcock's “North by Northwest”, but instead of Cary Grant, Jean-Louis Trintignant, also dressed with a needle and also an agent, is fighting with windmills. Only not an advertising one, but a real estate agent. I would not be lying if I said that Trintignant in the movie wonderfully good. Since the time of “Men and Women” has not wasted a gram of acting and human charm. Except that a little older. But a noble old age only beautifies him. As, in general, and Grant.

But the main thing in the movie will not be Trintignant. As the French say, cherche la femme.
