Story Movie

Teenager Ridley is forced to spend the weekend with her workaholic father Elliot in the company of his boss's family — the terminally ill head of a pharmaceutical company. On the way to the family's country house, father and daughter suddenly hit a real unicorn. After killing the suffering animal, Elliot loads it into the car, and upon arrival, it turns out that it has come back to life and its blood has incredible healing properties. While the greedy rich family plans to monetize the discovery, Ridley discovers that unicorns are cruel and vengeful creatures.

Review 4K Movie

Alex Sharffman's Death of a Unicorn ended up on my “To Watch” list primarily because of its colorful cast. Spoiler alert: I liked the film overall. It even exceeded my expectations somewhat. But first things first.

First of all, I want to praise Scharffman for his truly fresh directorial vision and the originality of some of his ideas. I really enjoyed the comedic part of his work, which is also a plus, given the genre. But the satirical techniques used in the film seemed too obvious and blatant to me. There are flaws in the plot, but they do not have too much of a critical impact. Overall, especially considering that this was his directorial debut, Sharfman did a decent job.

I would like to note the technical aspects of the film. It is very colorful. The visual effects are pleasing to the eye. The sound engineer of the film also deserves praise. And it is very well shot.

The young beauty Jenna Ortega looks very convincing in the role of her character, delighting the audience with her confident acting. Casting her in the lead role was undoubtedly a good decision. I would even go so far as to say that Ridley Kintner's role is one of the best in her career. Paul Rudd was very entertaining and enjoyable. Richard E. Grant, Tea Leoni, and Will Poulter also made a good impression. It was nice to see the charismatic Anthony Carrigan, whom I remember for his role as Victor Zsasz in the series Gotham.
